So. The page needs splitting.
My suggestion would be to create one page for players and "allied" mobs (tamable mobs plus golems), one for "natural" mobs (passive and neutral creatures from the overworld), one for hostile overworld mobs (counting spiders), and one for mobs from other dimensions.
Edited by Theriocephalus Hide / Show RepliesI agree that some more splitting is in order and here are a couple of suggestions:
Trustable Mobs: Axolotls, Foxes and Ocelots
Constructable Mobs: Iron Golem & Snow Golem
Character pages need to be at least 40,000 characters long to be split off on their own — none of those lists are long enough on their own, and even bundling tamable, trustable and buildable mobs into one page doesn't quite get there (the total's about 34k).
However, the section covering the Overworld's assorted hostile mobs is over 80,000 characters long and already complex enough to have its own lengthy subdivisions, which makes it a prime candidate for splitting off.
Well for the Overworld section, at the very least make separate folders for the Trustable and Constructable Mobs that I mentioned in my previous message.
I am not against further splitting of the Overworld's page by giving the outright hostile mobs their own page.
I don't know about folders, since so far the trend has been to keep each mob to its own folder, but putting the mentioned folders into distinct "trustable" and "buildable" sections (such as the ones currently for tamable mobs, passive mobs and so on) could serve a purpose and I'm not against it.
In the meantime, I suppose I can go ahead and split off the hostile mob section.
I believe that the characters page for Minecraft needs to be split up into multiple sub-categories. There's a lot more entities in the game now compared to earlier versions. Currently this characters page as it stands right now is quite large. I recommend splitting the Characters page into these different groups: Overworld Friendly/Passive, Overworld Hostile (further split into Undead, Illagers, and Other), Overworld Other, and Other Dimensions (for the Nether and End of course).
Hide / Show RepliesI think that would be a good idea. Two questions, though:
What would go under Overworld Other, besides neutral mobs?
If Other Dimensions would be meant to include all extradimensional mobs regardless of hostility, would or wouldn't the endermen go there? They're obviously tied to the End, but also appear commonly and are first encountered in the Overworld.
This is true that the Enderman poses a unique case being in every dimension Minecraft has to offer. However it's heavily implied, if not outright stated that Enderman are native to The End, so I believe they (along with Shulkers) would be listed there. Of course ones like Skeletons can appear in both the Overworld and Nether now (residing in Soul Sand Valleys now). I believe that in this case, the actual information should be listed in "Overworld - Undead" along with Zombies, Jockeys, Husks, Strays, Drowned and Phantoms. But they can still be listed on the pages of course, just with a re-direct message such as saying "Go to Overworld - Undead to read on more information about this mob."
This is how personally I would split apart separate pages, based on the preexisting categories already in place:
- The Player & Friendly/Tamed Mobs - Player, Dog, Cat, Snow Golem
-Overworld Wildlife - Passive: Chicken, Sheep, Pig, Cow, Mooshrooms, Squid, Ocelots, Bats, Horses/Donkeys/Mules, Rabbits, Parrots, Turtles, Fish, Pandas, and Foxes. Neutral: Wolves, Polar Bears, Llamas, Dolphins, and Bees.
-Villagers & Illagers - Amicable: Villagers, Iron Golems, Wandering Traders & Trader Llamas, the NP Cs (Exclusive to the Education Edition and share same model as Villagers). Raiders: Pillagers, Evokers, Vexes, Illusioners, Vindicators, Ravagers, and Witches (yes Witches can spawn away from the other Illagers but do join in with them for raids).
- Overworld Undead - Zombie, Husk, Drowned, Skeleton, Jockeys (one for Chicken the other Spider) Strays, and Phantoms.
- Overworld Hostile Other - Creepers, Spiders, Cave Spiders, Slimes, Silverfish, Endermites, Guardians, Elder Guardians, and The Killer Bunny.
- Other Dimensions - The Nether: Zombified Piglin, Ghasts, Blazes, Magma Cubes, Wither Skeletons, Hoglins, Piglins, and the Wither (since Mojang is instant on it being the Nether boss despite being summonable in the other dimensions, but all of its components hail from the Nether so this makes sense). The End: Endermen, Shulkers, and the Ender Dragon.
Overall I believe that this six-way split-up would help in maintaining organization and reduce the current cluster.
Edited by BleachBehemothSo in about a week Mojang will be releasing two sample "add-ons" for MC Pocket/Windows 10 Editions: "Alien Invasion" and "Castle Siege" (https://minecraft.net/en/addons/). As these will be developer-created new mob designs with new behaviors, and not just reskins of existing mobs, might we consider including these in the character page?
This page would look nice with some color. Anyone want to capture a screenshot of each mob? I haven't the time to do it myself, but I'm just throwing the idea out there, in case someone else might be interested.
Edited by Dawnwing Hide / Show RepliesWith creative mode's ability to spawn mobs, you can do it yourself now, but good luck in getting them to be still if you are seeking a group shot.
Remember, these idiots drive, fuck, and vote. Not always in that order.Wow, noones done this yet? I think we could use the Minecraft Wiki images, no? Although they are kind of boring..but consistent.

Should the Fandom link on the image caption be updated to the new wiki link? Was hesitant to do so myself, especially since the image author does not appear to have migrated to the new wiki yet.
