I thought she was at one point. I have no idea why she is in the antagonist folder at this point, especially considering the youths folder still has Robbie, considering he was just as antagonistic as her, and they both got better.
I feel like this should be reserved for Arc Villains. Preston Northwest was a Big Bad for like- ONE episode. And other than that, he's mostly treated as one of the many minor folk used for quick gags or just a background character. Pacifica for sure doesn't belong here. Her stint as a "villain" is more for the slice of life episodes. Like Robbie in season one (and no one better say he belongs here, too).
If you ask me, the characters on this page should just be Gideon, Bill, and FBI agent dudes (if we're being generous).
About the Abusive Parents trope in Bill Cipher's page.. I need to know where it was confirmed. Can someone give me a link or..?
The Cosmic Troper, here to trope like nobody's business!Removed the following:
- Exact Words: Bill showed expertise at this when trying to coerce Dipper into a deal. "I can help you, kid, you just gotta listen to my demands!" were his exact words. He was being perfectly honest, because unless he took Dipper's body, he couldn't directly interact with the laptop anyway. Taking Dipper's body meant he could help him, that it was possible, and that's all he promised.
- He also never said that he would give Dipper the password to the laptop, just "a hint". Sure enough, by stomping on the laptop and breaking it he revealed the McGucket Labs tag and gave Dipper that hint he promised.
- His entire side of his conversation with Mabel while using Blendin's body.
- I Gave My Word: He might twist the words, and he might fulfill your wish in the most horrible way possible, yet at the end of the day he always follows through. Nothing's actually stopping him from just possessing Dipper's body and not deliver, but he still gave Dipper the hint he promised by breaking the laptop. You can even argue that him destroying it is a good thing, as this prevented the laptop from deleting all of its data.
- Villains Never Lie: Whenever Bill makes a deal with someone, he never actually lies, instead using Exact Words in order to trick them.
Bill comes off as an Honest Demon kind of character but that's just a mask he uses to trick people. When he stole Dipper's body he never once claimed he was helping Dipper. Fans have come up with explanations that work, but since it was never addressed in series, both suggestions do not appear to be intended.
Furthermore, his other cases are outright lies. When disguised as Blendin he promises Mabel to create a time bubble that would keep things the way they are, not an alternate reality where Mabel is in charge, so that's an outright lie. We never hear any of Ford and Bill's conversations, but when Ford accuses him of lying, he fully admits it.
Most importantly, in Take Back the Falls, Ford openly discusses the fact that they can't trust Bill to keep his word, and that accepting Bill into his mind is a gamble, because Bill might just kill them all afterward anyway.
Enemy Mine- How do we know that Bill mistook Stan for Ford? He obviously thought of him first, but it's not known if he encountered Ford in another dimension. Shouldn't Bill know that it's Stanley, considering that he has eyes everywhere in the Shack?
Okay...
So we just saw Weirdmageddon. And while I was expecting Preston to be one of Bill's pawns, he just ends up being a test dummy for Bill's weirdness (and good God was it TERRIFYING).
Are we just to assume his status as a main antagonist is just completely gone? Should we still wait to see if there was any connection between him and Bill thanks to the tapestry in his home? Gideon seems to be making a Heel–Face Turn at the end of the ep, but has at least been a main antagonist to the Mystery Shack all throughout the first season so I'd say no matter what, he'd stay.
Also, should Bill's eldritch pals be here too, or on the Creatures and other Oddities page?
Hide / Show RepliesTo be honest, I doubt Preston will have any major role after that scene happened. If he had been a major recurring antagonist, I might have listed him, but as of now I doubt anything will come of that tapestry - he probably just bought/stole it, not knowing what it was.
Still, it's always possible we'll get a surprise twist thrown at us.
Oh God! Natural light!
Should Pacifica be moved to the "Youths of Gravity Falls" folder?
