Moved discussion of Villanious Valor here:
Throughout the third game in particular Zeus is defending the world as it stands from Kratos' thoughtless and destructive actions. He is fighting for family, subjects, and arguably, given the consequences of the game up until that point, life itself; the only reason he's a villain is because Kratos is the player character.
- Not actually. He's facing the consequences for having Thanatos torture and kill Deimos, Kratos' brother, because of a prophecy saying the Gods would be killed by a marked warrior and Deimos had a birthmark. Turned out it was a Self-Fulfilling Prophecy, as they got the wrong one and eventually prompted Kratos into becoming the Marked Warrior who would destroy Olympus. They GAVE him enough reasons to do it, so it's a tempting, Karmic Fate.
- Kratos was famous for his excessive cruelty before he even signed up with Ares. He CHOSE to join an infamous bloodthirsty and treacherous god. He CHOSE to kill all those people while following Ares. He killed his family DESPITE being warned by an oracle and his own instincts. Even his own wife called him out on his violence. Ares did not force him to do anything he just gave him the increased power to do what Kratos always wanted to do. He hacked apart anybody who got in his way without hesitation even if they were not a threat to him. Kratos could have done something productive as the new god of war instead he follows Ares's path after he is WARNED by Athena to stop. He was WORSE than Ares ever was. The games stated as much. If Ares was a complete monster what about Kratos? The gods remembered Ares's deeds and that is why they had him killed, but no one was holding a gun to Kratos's head. The monsters are not all the gods' creations. In Greek mythology, many were the children of Typhon who in myth is a much worse monster. Zeus was preserving his own power, but part of what he was doing was he hates chaos and was promoting a better world. He makes that clear in the opening. He has no reason to lie to the other gods. All he needed to say is Kratos was going to overthrow them. Instead he emphasized the threat Kratos posed to the world.
Alright, whoever keeps using Complete Monster to describe Kratos needs to get the record set straight. Asshole =/= Complete Monster. He still has redeemable traits.
Find the Light in the DarkYou know, I really have to say I get that Kratos is a bad guy, by modern standards, but a lot of the tropes and explanations for him are just straight insults and exaggerations that I've had to clean up. It bugs me the most here because there are alot of characters all over fiction who are just as bad, but even they get shown some respect.
As a little PSA, I want to say that you guys need to stop with the emotional responses, let's just stick to the facts.
Edited by 50.13.110.34 Find the Light in the DarkThe images are a mess. There are multiple images that are left-aligned and several images of female nipples. There's no consistency either; concept art-type pictures like Helios' are mixed with more natural looking portraits. I'm in favour of cutting them all except Kratos.
Edited by Vox Hide / Show RepliesLook, I've tried my best to find all the required images on the wiki of God of War. That means, I did the possible. Second, I can't see what's wrong with the left-aligned images. Third, the nipples are there in almost all the avaible images, and yet the guy who edited them missed some (Poseidon Princess namely).
I've a couple of remarks: first about Theseus: more than Earth or Dirt, he seems to manipulate Ice, so he should have the trope An Ice Person. (Since he's Poseidon's son and ice is frozen water, it makes sense). About Typhoon, well I think they decided to make all the Titans similar, they're all humanoid elementals like Gaia, Perses and Oceanus(Perses is the volcanic one that crush Helios, Oceanus is the one made of water and thunder)execpt Cronos, who is fully "organic" and so they based is power on his name, hence Wind. Besides, he looks nothing like the multi-headed Abomination of the Myths. It may also be a little of Fridge Brilliance: Encasing a fire related monster into a cold, icy mountains should cool him down and depower him, right?
Hide / Show Repliesadds data to the alignment of Kratos, he never showed chaotic trends before the become the god of war.
Character-Specific Pages Workshop
Some of the entries for the recent games, especially Ragnorok, are getting pretty big and look like they could be split off into their own pages.
