Pulling this entry:

    Beauty Brains Brawn
  • Beauty, Brains, and Brawn: Generally gender subverted in the Wright Anything Agency, but still counts:
    • Phoenix - Brawn. He powers his way through most of his trials through his constant bluffing and becomes infamous for it, while his Magatama allows him to break through an opponent's lie with supernatural and mental power. His post-Dual Destinies design denote this, by having more squares shapes in it.
    • Apollo - Brains. He is more logical and collected throughout his trials than Phoenix, and is less prone to bluffing than Phoenix. The judge and the prosecutor therefore almost never suspect bluffing from him when he is forced to resort to bluffing. His Perceive ability is basically Awesomeness by Analysis Up To Eleven. Just like Phoenix, his post-Dual Destinies also indicates this, with his features being more angular and triangular than his fellow protagonists.
    • Athena - Beauty. The Empath of the team, she relies more on perceiving emotions and understanding the witnesses' points of view to piece together the mystery at hand, with the Mood Matrix being made to analyse her interlocutor's feelings. Her design also alludes to this by having many circles and curves.

I think this is a classic case of shoehorning.

  1. Red flag #1: "gender subverted" is not a thing. The trope is about a same-gender trio.
  2. More importantly: I am not seeing any distinction between Phoenix and Apollo in terms of brawniness. While I agree that Apollo at least tries to be more composed, it feels very shoehorny to say Phoenix is the 'tough' one because he's constantly bluffing. The magatama having "supernatural and mental power" line is weird: the Psyche-Locks are, well, closer to metaphor than they are a physical obstacle.

So, layout following the site overhaul: my qualm is that the left-quoted full-body art in major character entries now just looks awkward on desktop, since the new layout stacks it on top of the main entry while still keeping the court record portraits right-quoted. Possible solutions:

  • Remove full-body art entirely.
  • Quote-right the full-body art, removing character portraits for major characters since many of them have multiple ones and this would make the descriptions too long.
