I’m curious to know why Overwatch 2 doesn’t have it’s own trope page yet, despite launching a few days ago.

Overwatch 2 isn't really that distinct an entity from "Overwatch" as we know it, at least any more than, say, how League of Legends patch 12.1 is different from 11.1 released a year prior. They're technically different games and one of them is functionally inaccessible, but they otherwise represent the same entity that is recognized as the game Overwatch. 2 is not quite a traditional sequel nor is it really marketed as its own separate entity, but is rather a rebrand of "the" game for a new start to content, so it really only needs one collective page.

The current edit of the entry is fine and I won't change it back, but to answer the edit reason regarding Brigitte's design, a lot of the discussions are in individual posts and whatnot. There was a huge Reddit back-and-forth a few days ago regarding whether Brigitte had Mercy's face, and I've seen a few people on Twitter and Tumblr talking about how she seems to have lost her muscle mass based on her Engineer skin where her arm's clearly shown. There have also been complaints about her face not looking right in-game when compared to the pre-rendered cinematic model, and I blame that on the fact that... that one was the pre-rendered cinematic model, but whatever.

I've also seen 5-digit note Tumblr posts both about how Blizzard's art designers are deliberately making Brigitte more generic in-game, and are "cowards" for not taking more risks and leaving Zarya the "token buff girl", and also how regardless of "downgrading," she's not challenging enough because she's "only" "Hollywood buff" like Zarya and panders to a "safe challenging" crowd (couldn't find this one, sorry, but I definitely read "Hollywood buff" being used derisively), and also she's pandering to the "PC" crowd because she's a woman/a buff woman/another woman/another buff woman.

I personally don't agree with these accusations at all, but they seem to be part of the conversation, so I feel that warranted an entry.

I looked through those links and most of them don't show me evidence of a "broken base". I see tumblr blogs displaying disappointment with the change, which would definitely qualify for They Changed It, Now It Sucks! or something along those lines, but the vast majority of people in those pages agree that the change was unwelcome. Most dissenting opinions don't amount to more than "lol triggered" or something as banal. I'm not seeing much in the way of actual discourse or disagreement.

And on "pandering", I didn't see ANYTHING that complained about pandering. I Ctrl+F'ed every one of those links and "pandering" came up 0 times. I scrolled through the entire Twitter thread to find evidence of complaints or arguments, and I couldn't find anything. The most I found were TWO polite posts that were disappointed that Brigitte's arms were skinny and asked Blizzard to bring back her muscle mass because it's appealing.

That's about it. Whatever conversation you're seeing, I'm not seeing it. There doesn't seem to be a broken base, an argument, a disagreement, or even a real conversation—there's just a bunch of fans who are disappointed about a change and not even that much good-faith pushback from people who are fine with it.

Hrm. I suppose "pandering" is probably a bad choice of word. I dunno, I think past the plentiful vitriol, I'm under the impression that there is some legitimate and relatively civil discourse regarding Brigitte's evolution, though probably not regarding that term. A lot of this discussion feels like a repeat of that back-and-forth with Mei's waistline, and if that can be listed as Broken Base, I believe this one can be too to a degree, because to me this feels like an actual conversation many people are going on about.

That's what I personally call "Troping the Future". We don't know what's going to happen in regards to this, even if we've seen similar patterns in the past. Unless there's current examples of an actual Broken Base arguing going back-and-forth over the issue (and not just criticism followed by "lol triggered"), I'm not convinced the base is even broken about it.

Again, maybe in the future, but not right now.
