If an example is written properly to explain how the trope is being used, there's nothing wrong with additionally adding in a link to a fan review as an example to back-up the written entry. The problem is using a link to replace a proper write-up and also passing off (or at least implying) the link as an authoritative source of the industry facts when it's just an ordinary fan's personal speculation that happens to get certain objective, easily researchable information completely wrong (as many fan reviews of anything often do).

I'm sure there is a YMMV trope that will apply to what you're saying, and I'm not objecting to the existence of the link. It's just the trope being used and the way the link is being used in the example that I had a problem with.

I\'m wondering if this is a combination of SeasonalRot, JumpingTheShark and KudzuPlot, rather than one specific trope. I think these three may already be listed, so it could be a case or rewording them to accommodate all this. You\'re right about it being hard to figure out which trope it actually is.
