I probably don't need to explain this, but I felt like responding to a couple things here. I changed the AesopAmnesia point here because it's easy to see Marlin's newly returned overprotection is [[JustifiedTrope justified and understandable]].
*It's not necessarily that he hated travelling in the current, it's probably that doing so is simply something his body doesn't agree with. Also remember there are parts of the EAC that are calm & leisurely, but they were in a part approaching their offramp (so to speak) where it was much faster and, like in the first film, they have to yell at each other just to be heard. He might like the smooth parts while hating these ones.
*More of a complainer? I think he handled himself pretty well when it came to Dory constantly trying to get in the anemone early in the morning. It's been a year since they met; that can't be the first time that's happened. If anything, he's become ''more'' patient.

He only gets more wound up than usual when things are more dire than usual.
