Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
It's not really permitted there either, but the mods aren't super-strict, in practice, about upholding it.
Also, Headscratchers aren't meant to be structured like a forum discussion, so ideally it shouldn't have back and forth questioning and arguing over answers. But unfortunately the rules aren't that well-enforced in subpages.
We do have a Headscratchers clean-up thread.
Spots like Headscratchers and WMG are more lenient but still not technically allowed; it's just that first-person writing is a lower priority on those pages.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessIs second person writing fine? I would think so.
Is it though? I know third person is the norm but in some cases second person is pretty much unavoidable (like on a page for a Video Game there will almost always be something like "You play the game as (insert protagonist name here.)"
That's not You-the-character-in-the-article, that's You-the-audience-reading-our-article. Breaking the Fourth Wall is not second-person writing. Second-person writing would be... "You recall that this game's protagonist is [Name], although you prefer their In-Series Nickname, Dork. Calling yourself a Dork always gives you a warm feeling while you play the game."

Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessFirst person writing is ok in places like here or You Know That Show, right?
Discussion threads and forums are where we talk as individual tropers. The rule is about articles. Everything else is "behind the scenes". ATT is a discussion page.

I always thought it was in the Headscratchers pages, as there are a lot of people saying things like "I never got X" or "X never made sense to me". Is this right?
