If there is an official translation, then we follow it. If there are multiple translations, all official, then we follow the latest one.
This only came up relatively recently, but official English translations now take priority over fan-translations and original foreign titles and names. There is even a cleanup thread
dedicated to it, along with a database page of sorts keeping track of the changes. You can maybe bring that up there.
^^ I own the officially translated English release of the manga. The Yen Press translation has always consistently said "Bloody Black Rabbit." I don't know if it's possible that Canadian/Australian/etc. releases differ, but I doubt it. I have never heard of "Bloodstained Black Rabbit" being an official English translation. Some popular fan translations have said "Bloodstained," but obviously those aren't official...

There is a character in PandoraHearts whose name is officially translated as the "Bloody Black Rabbit." A rather long time ago, somebody changed the word "Bloody" to "Bloodstained" in all examples, explaining that Bloodstained is a better translation as it is equally accurate to the original Japanese while avoiding the connotation issues in British English.
Although I thought it was better to be consistent with the official English translation, I didn't really bring this up anywhere because I wasn't very familiar with TV Tropes. Now I'm wondering if this is something that should be addressed. I don't really mind the change—I actually agree that in several aspects "Bloodstained" is probably a better translation than "Bloody." But I don't know if relying on an unofficial translation is against the rules.
What is the general consensus here?
