If not for this anchor I'd be dancing between the stars. At least I can try to write better vampire stories than Twilight.
I'm looking for a trope where clawed monsters, or monster hunters armed with sharp weapons, nevertheless mostly fight with a lot of punching and kicking. (Dates at least as far back as Kolchak: The Night Stalker, who faced a werewolf that only ever picked people up and threw them.) Examples: Buffy, Supernatural, Grimm, presumably many others. Seems to be mostly confined to monster-hunter shows on TV, presumably for a combination of taste and budget reasons.
