Many of those improvements begin with suggestions posted right here, on the Community Wishlist. Is there a feature you really want on TVTropes? Post it.
Is there something we could be doing better? We want to know. Do you think we look fat in these pants? We were totally afraid of that. See a bug? Report it.
Important things to know:
- We're all about that content-creation life! The top contenders for our attention are ideas that'll create more content, like the video uploading feature, or speed up launching new pages. On the flip side, design or layout tweaks won't be our top priority.
- Help us dig through the goldmine of old wishlist items! If you have an old request gathering dust or spot one you're totally on board with, give it a bump and a like. There's a treasure trove of 6+ years' worth of ideas just waiting to be rediscovered. Items without enough love may not make the cut and will be closed.
- Was your wishlist item locked up without an explanation? It was most likely disapproved or just too big of a task versus the benefit it would ultimately have. Time is precious, and we want to focus on updates with the biggest bang for the buck. Don't be discouraged though! We appreciate every idea and we're always listening.
I'm pretty sure that initial bans are done by handle and don't match with an IP, not to mention dynamic IP ranges, so it might not work, but it's a good idea.

Bump because people are getting bounced when they attempt ban evasion. Maybe change it so logging out leaves a cookie and this message shows up if you try to even access the create account screen (as yeah, there is all this IP stuff to take into account). Also adjusted wording in the message, still hoping it's implemented someday.

I agree it's a good idea.
There is a more appealing prospect of just outright denying account creation to banned IPs instead of warning them, and it cleans up the mess that they leave behind by shutting the problem off at the source.

I've seen many people ban evade lately... but sometimes, I feel it could be easily avoided if they knew about the anti-suspension thread (if they have only been suspended once or twice). I've been thinking about some way to help reduce ban evaders by mistake. If someone would try to register a new account on a device/IP that has recently been using an account, a message would pop up:
WARNING! This device had an account recently using it. Making multiple accounts is good if:
- You forgot the password for your account, in which case post in this thread
, but only if you first tried the other methods listed in the header post.
- You want to rename your account to something else. This can be done very occasionally, but don't abuse it, and keep in mind you will lose all your previous contributions and the ability to edit your previous troper page.
HOWEVER! If you want to create a new account because your old one has been banned from editing, forums etc., DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CREATE IT. If you do, you may lose ALL your TV Tropes privileges on your old account, any new sockpuppet accounts... and your IP. This means no editing, no posting, and possibly no reading for the IP permanently. Instead, please:The message would be shown for 1 minute with no way to skip it, giving time to rethink. After it's done, two buttons would show up at the bottom.
