Is there a reason you can't?

Because while I hate the entry and would gladly rename the page, I cant do it without consensus first. Besides, I cant move stuff. I dont know how.

Looking at Wikipedia the official U.S. name is simply Angel, and the U.K. name is Flower Angel, though both have ZIV International credited as the company. Lunlun the Flower Girl seems to come from dubbed movies released in '09, so the "latest translation" rule may kick in.

Why? Seems like you're complaining about it using Japanese words.

Why what? Why would the latest translation rule kick in? The general rule I've observed is when there are different names for the same foreign made work, the most recent official translation is used.

Mind you, it's the latest US official name we use. That is what you meant, right, with the name you spoke of?

Bismuth, I dont like it when they are used instead of just saying stuff like "Its for little kids" which is what Kodomomuke means...and then says "Its not for little kids...well it is, but its japan, land of the mature kids shows!". To that I object.

The wiki strives to not be US-centric. Case Closed and Detective Conan are both valid English translations, but the latter is not the US translation. Since the two names are used concurrently, we are able to use the one closer to Japanese intent. If we were restricted to US translations, it would have to be Case Closed.

"The wiki strives to not be US-centric."

Since when? I always thought we defaulted to US Centric because that's where the site's servers were located.

I agree with both. While its best that we use USA titles, I dont want to see people assume America is the defaut location we should strive for on TV Tropes. Thie most relevant I can think of is Germans Love David Hasselhoff, where people equate "United States of America" with "Here" and its fucking irritating.

^ Are you sure you don't mean We All Live in America? Germans Love David Hasselhoff is about things being more popular in a country other than the one it comes from.

Anyway, I think there's been a major misunderstanding here. The rule is most recent English translation, because this is an English wiki. Whether that name comes from the US, or Canada, or the UK, or Australia, or any other English-speaking country should be irrelevant.

Irene Since: Aug, 2012

Not necessarily. Might want a clarification if they mean most recent USA translation when they say English. We generally use American English over UK English here too(not that we'll edit a page just for the sake of changing it to the other variation of English, since that's a waste of everyone's time when it already has a working set of words). It's very USA centric and designed that way.

Miss Mo, I know and its exactly why. Many fall into the fallacy on that trope, and its really irritating. I can look for examples if you need me to.

Usually the US trumps applies most to legal stuff, since the servers the site is stored on are in the US and under that jurisdiction. (Specifically, Cali's.)

The policy on general English dialects are first come first served. I don't think it's a valid rule to pull into 'the most recent English title translation' discussion.

Well, then, the problem lies with it being a term unfamiliar to your average Joe, not because of any fan hater tendencies (not that you have any, just saying.) Also, technically, you're kind of correct about the kids shows being more mature (Values Dissonance or whatever)

I dont think Japanese kids shows are more mature. That was the argument the troper who made the entry used. I just find it redundant and annoying. Especially since they admited Lun Lun is Kodomomuke... WHICH IT ISNT! Its Shojo anyway.
