Seems more like a coincidence than an actual trope, to be honest, but maybe others will have a different opinion.
Also, with some help from Google, I found several comedy shows that don't fit the rule - The Brady Bunch, Happy Days, Family Ties, The Simpsons, Blossom, Still Standing, Boy Meets World, Clueless and Everybody Hates Chris.

My impression is, that in sitcom families with more than one child, the first child is almost always female (unless all children are male). Married with children, Roseanne, Bill Cosby, ALF, Grounded for life, The Dinos (counterexample Family Matters). Just a few, that come to my mind right away. Am I right, that writers of this genre prefer older sisters and/or avoid older brothers? Could there be a trope behind this?
