I think that fairly represents the idea well, but is there an example when the trope represents the entire story, as in the characters, the feeling you get when you read it, rather than just a setting within the story?
My question is the name of the trope for when (as it says in the title) where a creative piece is hiding a dark meaning behind what is at first portrayed as perhaps, innocent childlike, or happy? There are many Youtube videos online with dark interpretations to classic children cartoons, this can be viewed as an example of this. The clearest example would probably be the cartoon Adventure Time as from the onset, we are aware everything is not entirely right from tiny clues left to us by the creators.
