Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread

Trope is The Beastmaster, and you are referring to the trope that is called X, so "the X trope" / "the Beastmaster trope" is correct to my mind.
I guess you could split the difference and render it {{the Beastmaster}}.
Edited by Eagal You fell victim to one of the classic blunders!According to at least one style guide, you are correct. A leading article can be dropped or turned into part of the surrounding text (as it is here) when grammatically convenient. This is similar to how leading articles are ignored when alphabetizing; they're only included when useful.
I personally wouldn't have included the word "trope" in the pothole, leaving it as "the Beastmaster trope." But that's me.
Edited by HeraldAlberichSo would I be justified in restoring it to that? (Sorry to be such a stickler here, but I came dangerously close to edit-warring a while ago and I want to make sure)
How about this - "...their main cultural Hat is The Beastmaster" or ..."is as The Beastmaster".
Edited by Ulysses21 Avatar from here.^ That would work, or restore it. In either case link to both this discussion (click on the discussion's title) and the Chicago link in your edit reason.
I made this edit a few days ago:
I deliberately potholed The Beastmaster like that to remove the capitalized "The", which I figured would look awkward in the middle of a sentence. Another user then removed the pothole (resulting in "...as a culture is The Beastmaster trope..."). Now I'm wondering...was my original approach incorrect? If yes, is there a better way to handle that?
