What is the entry for? If it's Base-Breaking Character, then it's woefully inaccurate. Fe MC is stupidly popular. I could theoretically see an example for Hype Backlash for her, but it's not written as such.
The last sentence is just a lie. The split was between complainers and... what I think would best be called "copers" justifying not including her, but certainly not celebrating not having the FEMC.
EDIT: The same editor really seems to have a wonk about her, since they shoehorned the same argument in as Fandom Rivalry and puts in a ton of other little jabs about her throughout the page. I'm not enamored with her or especially Portable, but I'm also not, you know. Delusional.
For "are these audience reactions actually true," I tend to find taking this up with the work's forum thread is usually the best place to check. You're guaranteed that the eyes you'll get on the query have their ear closer to the ground than most ATT participants.

Between you, me, and the one tepid response in that thread, I think that's enough consensus to say it can be removed.
But that's why I really think bringing it up in the work's thread is probably the better idea.

I’m not as active in the fandom but do people really fight over the female protagonist? Because I’ve never seen much divide over her. In fact, I’ve only seen people express their disappointment of her being excluded from Reload.
