Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread

I think that’s unnecessary. A lot of the time the sorting is done by order of when they joined. It’s a lot of moving around for no reason. Most character pages are not in alphabetical order. People are smart enough to figure a character page out without that
Couldn't you argue that having them in the order they joined the team is sort-of Fan Myopia, though? Especially with long-running media like X-Men. If, for example, I'm looking for a character introduced in the 2000's after reading a series they're in now, I'm not necessarily gonna know when they joined a team in a run that happened 20 years ago.
A smile better suits a heroCommenting to bump, hoping to get a few other views on this one.
What is the though on a character page of characters not popular or iconic enough to have their own pages like X-Men: 2000s Members? There are Avengers from several decades listed from order of first appearance, but no real way to establish that was its intent. My feeling is that the page would feel more in order.
Just looking at X-Men: 2000s Members - it's a single list, it's not sorted by name, and (although it does cover a specific era) it's not sorted by date.
It doesn't seem to be 'core cast first' either.
This is a fairly common scenario for comic character pages for teams and rogues' galleries.
Is there some best practice guidance on how pages like this should be arranged?
(Will also flag this on the discussion page, but it's not specific to that one page - just using it as a case study)
Thanks!
