Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
Given that the second point is completely false and the third is speculative leaning towards being false, this is an easy cut and merge back without those two points at the absolute least.
I agree. Should I just delete the page and re-work it into the main YMMV page?
Is there some sort of hard and fast rule about splitting a single trope into pages like that, or is it just a play by ear kind of thing?
As far as I know, there is no specific point at which a trope can be split off into its own page. If the the other two entries were valid, I'd say that would be enough to split off TCINIS, but since they're not, the sole valid entry can just be moved back to the main YMMV.
Ok I'll do that soon, then. It just struck me as odd because I usually only see split pages like that for shows that have lots (like 10+) of Shout Outs, or Continuity Nods and things like that.
^^That seems like a good idea to me.
EDIT: I just revised this.
Edited by RandomTroper123I see that yet another example was added to the page which starts with "apparently", marking it as probably speculative.
The newest one is basically the same as the first one-complaining she's not an Inhuman/has different powers. It then devolves into a bunch of spoilery, uneccesary fluff. You can say in three sentences what these editors are saying in theee paragraphs.
I can tell this is gonna be a troublesome trope with this show. TCINIS might honestly need a cleanup thread.
...is there any evidence that these are even widespread opinions? I've generally understood that most people aren't the biggest fans of Kamala being an Inhuman in the comics in the first place.
From what I've seen most of the complaints are less that she's not an Inhuman and more that her powers are different.
And you can say thats a problem without a bunch of natter and needless speculation before and after the fact. "A vocal group of fans were unhappy with the change of Kamala's power set (as well as her not being an Inhuman) valuing her relativelg uniqueness and disliking the out of universe reasoning."
That's it. That's all it takes.
There's no guarantee that the changes that they made for the show are actually going to stick, so this all seems kind of premature.
I've put the page up on the Cut List, which I didn't know about cause I've never had to delete a whole page before.
But yes, it's a needlessly large page with "examples" that are really just excuses to rant. So hopefully it'll get cut and we can go from there.
Edited by ArthurEldnrjxll, there's indeed hundreds of examples for two changes; for making her not an Inhuman and for changing her powers to make them energy-based. Even mainstream media reports acknowledge these two. I don't know about the others, but basically any youtube video has people complaining about these.
Anyway, I restored a bit of the original entries (as they were, without engaging on hypotheticals, speculation or natter) because the previous entry didn't describe why people disliked her being changed from an Inhuman into a mutate.
Edited by Edgar81539She's not a mutate either. Her powers are technology, turns out the bracelet she found that belonged to her grandmother gave her powers.
^^IDK, looks like Natter on both of those bullets. However, I consider the specific issue I raised here to be closed, so I will bring that up on the appropriate page.
Ms. Marvel is out and has its own They Changed It, Now It Sucks! page...after one episode.
Not only are most of the examples poorly written (with some of them mentioning they were just complaints based on the trailer that were allayed by the actual show), but my main question is that the page has 3 examples so far (one of which has 3 sub-bullets, which can't possibly be necessary).
https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/TheyChangedItNowItSucks/MsMarvel2022
Is there any sort of policy on how many examples are needed for a YMMV trope (at least, non Moment ones) to get its own page? Because 3 seems like it's pushing it and the examples could easily be pared down and slotted into the main YMMV page.
