Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
Bump. The page has been cut, so anyone interested in recreating it can now do so.
Well that sucks, given that I promoted it in the October Trope Report.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe. There’s nothing prohibiting it from being started anew.
Well the page is back it seems anyway.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Should probably make sure that none of the ban evader’s entries are on there. It seems that the recreation was taken from the way back machine, so it includes the ban evader’s edits.
Edited by costanton11HDLWL Vfan 2017 recreated it, but without any formatting.
I just sent him a PM about this thread. He seems to be the story’s original author.
Do we have a troper by the name of J Tom 09? Because that's what the page is saying is the author.
I talked with HDLWL Vfan 2017 in the pm. He said he was the author, though his user name is different here.
Edited by costanton11Well, they recreated the page with none of the formatting, so it reads like a giant block of text.
^ I'm not sure where to start in fixing that formatting nightmare. When I tried, I quickly lost track of where the tropes were after the third one.
Looks like someone has fixed most of it. I got a few of the lingering issues.
The recreation was presumably done by looking up the page in the way back machine and copying it over. The issue is that it includes content that was added by the ban evader. From my look at the page history before it was deleted, the evader made most of the edits, including the description and the majority of tropes.
Edited by costanton11Sorry for the double post. Made a post in the Ban-Evader Reversion Thread requesting input.
Edited by costanton11If they are the author, then they can't recreate the YMMV page, which they just did.
For what’s it’s worth, they didn’t add any examples. On the author’s DeviantArt page, they mentioned that they recreated it with a version they had saved.
^ they didn't add any examples because the page never had any. it's still a stub either way.
I recall the page did once have examples, mostly from the ban evader.
Should probably cut it again as a stub.
Maybe someone should ask them to come here. I sent something earlier, but I don't want to be pushy.
Bump.
Here's a summary of what happened:
The page Fanfic.Reacting To The Loud House was created and substantially edited by a ban evader using the handles Diana Glow 71, Sky Blue Eleven, and Black Hole 429. From my look at the page history, they added the vast majority of the tropes, as well as the description. Since ban evader’s edits are reverted on principle and they created the page to begin with, I cutlisted the page with the caveat that it can be recreated afterwards. After it was cut, someone else (not the ban evader) recreated the page for the fic. The issue is that they seemed to do so by copying an version of the page saved, meaning that the ban evader’s contributions were inadvertently restored. So basically, we’re back to square one regarding the page having edits from ban evaders.
Edited by costanton11Bump. I sent some of the editors on the page P Ms about this thread, but I haven't received a response.
Bump. Not sure if this has been resolved.
I sent some of the editors PM directing them here. I haven't heard back yet.
Resubmit the cut, with a link to this ATT thread again. If they don't respond and simply copy-paste the contents again, a suspension will be issued to explain the problem to them.
Edited by crazysamaritan Link to TRS threads in project mode here.Done. I left a notice in the cut reason directing to this thread. I may have been vague in my original reasons, which may have resulted in the initial confusion. I’ll send a PM to them regarding this just to be safe. They’re welcome to make a new page without those edits.
Edited by costanton11Normally I wouldn't bump such a long topic, but ChristmasDay5 has recreated the page as well as a few of the subpages. I don't remember what the page was like before it got cut, but I want to make sure that they're not copy-pasting what it was before, as well as it not being the same person from before ban-evading.
Edited by ArctimonFor what it's worth, the original author on their DeviantArt page comments was rather unhappy with the page being cut. I had previously sent them a PM about it before cutlisting the page, but I haven't received a response.
I must stress again that I intended no ill will towards them.
Regarding what the previous poster said, one of their edit reasons was was to change the wording of some of the examples "Are these modifications acceptable?" which suggests that they're changing them from the ban evader's original contributions. In regards to comparisons, here is a wayback machine archive of the page prior to its second cut.
Edited by costanton11Yeah, I didn't see that; that edit reason was made after I bumped this.
The troper in question is a brand new account who just remade these pages, so you'll have to forgive me if I'm being overly cautious here.
Again, I noticed that the author was upset on their DeviantArt, so I want to express to them that there was nothing wrong with the fic itself, and this was not intended to offend them. I don't know if they read my messages, but I am sure that they were acting in good faith with their previous actions and I hope to resolve this issue to satisfaction of all.
Edited by costanton11^^ Sorry for the double post, but someone else responded to the page recreator's edit with a "yes". Maybe someone should ask them to come here just to make sure everyone's on the same page.
Sent PMs to both users.
Jawbreakers on sale for 99¢Hello there. So this is the ask the tropers page regarding the "Reacting To The Loud House" fanfic, yes?
The thing that I said yes is because of Christmas Day 5's question "Are these modifications acceptable?" and I responded "yes", I've seen it.
Rewritten is my aim; I'm trying to modify the deleted tropes.
Along with restoring the page, I re-added many of the entries, but reformulated most of them so that it wouldn't be an exact copy of what was deleted.
What's unchanged is near-impossible to formulate differently, so apologies for that.
^ I was referring more to whether or not it was different enough to count.
So... with the changes I made, does the page get to stay?
If they are different enough, then probably. Let’s see what others say.
My Weird School was also created by a Ban-evader, but has since been frequented by other tropers.
Your friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man.^ I feel that isn't enough of a reason to keep the page. Other pages made by ban evaders have been cut despite also being frequented by other tropers.
That can probably be discussed in a separate thread.

The page for Reacting to The Loud House was created by a ban evader and the vast majority of the edits were made with their different accounts. A few others have edited since, but since the original evader seems to have made most of the edits, which should be reverted on principle, it might be better to cut the page and then start over.
Just putting this as a heads up so that people familiar with the work can create a new page without such edits.
The subpages also need cleaning up.
