Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread

I had the same curiosity. Maybe to prevent misuse? But I think the trope name makes more sense without quotes, and retains the double-meaning to boot.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.Yeah, if not for the quotes, I suspect there would be lots of people using the trope to refer to the scariest thing in a story, because they'd think the trope name meant "nothing is scarier than this thing".
Dunno when this custom title happened, but I do recall initially getting confused about the title of this trope (as in "nothing is scarier" than what?) until I read the trope's page itself. Maybe the custom title was meant to clarify things, but I'm unsure if it's all that necessary.
Creepypasta cleanup got two major pages for JTK and SlenderThe quotes are just wrong. The trope isn't about the word "nothing" being scary.
(EDITED for clarity)
Agreed. The quotes are grammatically incorrect, because putting the word in quotes like this: "nothing" indicates that you're referring to the word itself, not to the concept of nothingness (which is what the title refers to).
Edited by GnomeTitanWould it be fine if someone asked to revert the change?
Can someone please explain when Nothing Is Scarier got custom-titled to have the word "nothing" in quotes and the reasoning behind this decision?
