@0dd1: fair enough. I won't press you.
ophelia, you're breaking my heart"Concept"? Did he write it? Just share it aloud with the producers? What?
Trampling.
SO does this mean NC gonna do some more modern stuff? Because if so, I am all for him bringing it back. I felt like he was limiting himself too much with his cut off date and missing out on some truly terrible films.
Remember! Hyperbole is an exaggeration made for comedic effect, and shouldn't be taken literally!"Concept" generally refers to a 40 page treatment. It's not a full script, but it's a detailed summary of the story.
Just my own neuroses, no need to worry.
I'd assume it's an idea he had and the writers ran with it or something. EDIT: Or that.

Trafic flow chart guess what the dip is
This is no time to bemoaning your fate. After all, "fate" is not the culprit here. That honor goes to your stubborn sense of self-worth.Sigh.
I liked the ending of To Boldly Flee...
I have a message from another time...Look, I don't wish to beat a dead horse, but I didn't get the chance to weigh in on recent developments prior to the lock. I shall be brief...
It's true that Doug is the creator here, that he had multiple reasons (Demo Reel's financial instability, new ideas for the Critic, et cetera) for changing everything back, and that it is entirely his perogative to do so. No fan has ever had the right to completely dictate a creator's decisions, no matter how much certain Critic fans might want to.
That said... This was a Retcon of many of my favourite things about Doug Walker's recent work. I had grown to enjoy Demo Reel immensely, and the sudden, Lost-esque ending was a severe disappointment and felt like a disservice to all of the characters involved. And while the decision may have been made at least in part for financial reasons, it was rather unprofessional in and of itself. At least that's how things look on this side of the screen.
Did Doug have the right to un-retire the Critic and end Demo Reel? Certainly. Do I also have the right as an audience member to cease watching because of it? Yes, and it's a right I intend to excercise. Au revoir.
"And every life is a special story of its own." —The Stargazer, Mass Effect 3While we're on the subject of Doug yielding to audiences demands, I'd also like to subject him to Cat Woman and The Last Airbender.
You are displaying abnormally high compulsions to over-analyze works of fiction and media. Diagnosis: TV Tropes Addiction.@Frozen Wolf: I don't know, because I can't figure out how the hell to even read that chart.
The site already has an awesome multi-crossover review of The Last Airbender. http://thatguywiththeglasses.com/videolinks/ir/yrt/specials/30277-the-last-airbender

I can't have you close, so I become a ghost and I watch you, I watch you.People take this too seriously.
0dd1: It's the site traffic for 2012. There's a large dip about two thirds of the way through the year which is September, which is around the time that there was nothing going on. It stays low once Demo Reel starts.
I'm no good at math, but Critic and Demo Reel weren't the only things on the site. It's a huge place, lots of people you can try.
And Doug once said that even if the site went under, he wouldn't regret giving up the Critic when he did. Bleh.
There was a Mummy 4?
That makes me sad.
Groovy. My mistake, it was Mummy 3, the one with Jet Li. Maybe my head added Scorpion King for some reason. Anyway.
I can't have you close, so I become a ghost and I watch you, I watch you.Ah, I see. Yeah, I kinda saw Scorpion King as "Mummy 3" myself.
Groovy.eme: Knowing Doug though, I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't think about just what the site losing revenue like that would mean for everyone else. If the Critic not existing was doing measurable harm to everyone else's profits, Doug's the kind of person who would feel personally responsible for that.
No, we're not going here again!
So what do you hope from the Critic in the future, style-wise?
More funny.
Nicer. At least let To Boldly Flee mean something.
I'd actually like if it started to move more toward sketch comedy like he seemed to have been doing later on. One can only do so much with riffing on movies and pointing out their flaws.
The video seemed to imply that the show wouldn't be the same as it was, without all the memes/running gags that bogged it down later on.

Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle. The traffic on the site has been slow for a while now, hasn't it? It kinda reflected on this thread, this has been the most activty we have had in a really long time.
I can't have you close, so I become a ghost and I watch you, I watch you.In all honesty, when I realized that I could watch people's videos on blip anyway, I rarely ever actually went to the site itself again and only really go if I'm bored to look if there's an interesting video from someone I might have missed. I think that's how I discovered The Rap Critic.
Either way, THE SITE REDESIGN IS COMING! Oh, I wish. That might make me actually WANT to visit the site more.
