No, right thread. Look at the page for Blue Sky. They're making a film. Of the game. Spore. WTF.

At least, this is tangentially related.

Well you could at least tell us what led you to talk about Spore getting a movie, from this thread's topic of TGWTG, but thanks for clarifying anyway.

I went to the Blue Sky page that was linked here, saw that, and went WTF, posting without really thinking about topic.

Oh okay.

At any rate, can someone reorganize where the Blue Sky article should be? I keep getting notes about this "Wheatey" or whoever stars in the fanfiction of Portal with the same name!!!

Phelous is doing a Top Ten List of his show. ......... is it me, or is that signaling fear?

Funny exchange I just had on Twitter—apparently Lindsay's next review is The Lord of the Rings:

Nostalgia Chick: I'm afraid of the flame wars my comments on Tom Bombadil is going to engender. Has there ever been a more controversial fictional figure?

Me: Want to start a flame war? Say that Balrogs have/don't have wings.

NC: ITS RIGHT THERE IN THE BOOK I MEAN GOD

Me: IT WAS CLEARLY METAPHORICAL, IF IT HAD WINGS IT WOULD HAVE FLOWN OUT OF THE PIT

NC: WINGS DONT WORK WHEN THEY'RE ON FIRE THEY ARE FLIGHTLESS LIKE PENGUINS GAH

Groovy.

Those wings always seemed pretty obviously metaphorical to me.

@Shota It's Phelous, of course it was going to be a parody. (And Snob/Linkara have done top tens and they're still going.)

Hell, Doug did how many Top 11s before he retired that character?

Shota means Top Ten Moments of Phelous's own show, not top lists in general. But the point still stands about Brad and Lewis.

Doug just did the one, out of character, after the NC wrapped up.

I snorted ungainly-like when she spoiled the sweet escapist speech at the end with Frodo's fall counter.

Oh dear, I haven't seen any of the LOTR movies/books, so I may have to sit this one out. Or not, since everyone online spoils it profusely anyway.

Good analysis of the plot and how the adaptation worked, but I was hoping for more emphasis on its impact on the Hollywood system and marketing when she brought it up at the beginning. I'm a sucker for that sort of thing.

Ah well. Two parts left.

Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.

I'm intrigued by the promise of Old Men Running Off Cliffs While Engulfed In Flames, I hope she dedicates a huge chunk of the third video on that.

All the Ewoks will look up and shout, "Save us from the Klingons!" And I'll whisper, "Why so serious?"

She does have apoint about the dialogue being a little out there, it's been a while since I watched the trilogy, but I had forgotten how melodramatic it was, what really sold it is that it's a good story that makes you invest in the characters.

The whole black and white morality though, as the years go by that is something that bugs me about the story, maybe the way I see stories have changed, maybe I just read A Song of Ice and Fire too often, I don't know.

Now this is the third review in a row that focuses on the fantasy genre, there was Nash's Dragonslayer review, and there's the Foldable Human review of the Earthsea miniseries over Chezapocalypse, watch it guys, it's really good.

Also, Lindsay got a troll on her Facebook page.

[up]...Has he not been watching her for...like...two years?

Oh, and—though this is hardly the biggest problem with this comment—film rights generally go to whoever funded the film, asshole. You're insulting her for not being able to bankrupt a documentary, what sense does that make?

Hey, he tops it off by insulting Marz Gurl. Lovely.

Two things about that comment.

First, he's right. How dare Lindsay not review stereotypically girly things. Everyone knows that girls don't like anything that isn't specifically aimed at them.

Second, I love how "went to film school" is in quotes. Something about the apparent disbelief behind the quotation marks makes me giggle.
