So... I hate to bring up old drama again, but it seems that Arkada of Glass Reflection just reblogged An Open Letter to JesuOtaku on his Tumblr.

I know, I just felt this would be the best place to mention it. It seems tensions are starting to arise over the whole Twitter shitstorm among both her fans and her (former) coworkers for relying too much on hyperbole or easily disproven claims.

That is a pretty awesome post, even if I don't think JO should be demonized for disliking a fandom. But I remind people here. Is hating JO for her dislike of bronies, even when the video is unrelated, a useful use of our time? If you really are turned off that much by JO fine, sure, don't watch her videos but do we need to bring it up every time she does something?
And yeah pretty much all nerd based fandoms have creepy, sexist, and sometimes racist elements. Probably all fandoms overall. I just generally don't care unless I know of a particular asshole that I'm in a position to do something about it.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing."This article is satirical" NO. No, if you're going to say that the article from Equestria Daily about buying toys from Mc Donalds is satire, YOU have to back that up. YOU'RE the one who's saying how she has to back up her statements with evidence.
And oh my god he's arguing that the pony porn problem "isn't that bad! It's only a few pictures!"
It's on safe search on the first page. That is bad! That is not something that happens with other fandoms. The racism and the misogyny and the other things bronies are called out on, sure. But not the porn. (Except in the case of Pokemon, as he shows.)
I don't see the issue with her calling out brony behavior if it's still a problem. Yeah, she probably needs a new target. It stops being funny if she keeps bashing the same thing.
Honestly the whole article just reeks of "WAH I'M A BRONY JESU OTAKU KEEPS INSULTING ME I'M GOING TO RANT FOR TWENTY PAGES INSTEAD OF DOING ANYTHING PRODUCTIVE TO TRY AND IMPROVE THE BRONY NAME WAHHHHHH".
Oh and for the record? Twilight fangirl bashing was a lot worse than this, but I don't remember seeing people jumping in their defense. But I guess that was a girl thing so.

Don't forget that the way someone raps is also important. Also, agreed.

Did you actually bother to read the open letter? JO specifically states that pony porn is "easier to find", when a simple Google search shows that Renamon and Lugia, both from children's franchises, get more pornography, and both have pornographic images on the first page. It's basically saying that JO's assumption that bronies have "more porn" is fundamentally false. So, given all the Renamon smut, why doesn't JO speak out against Digimon porn despite being a huge Digimon fan? Oh, if bronies "don't call out porn", then what exactly is this?
The issue for her "calling out brony behavior" is that, as outlined in the article, it's often based on ideas that are just plain not true.
Look, I have no problem with calling out bad behavior, but acting like that bad behavior is somehow exclusive to a certain fandom when others have it just as bad, if not worse, is kind of dumb. Especially if you're doing so from the anime fandom, which has a pretty serious stigma and has been treated much the same way as bronies for a lot longer. I mean, they're the reason that "lolicon" has become a permanent part of the internet dictionary. Not to mention that in Japan identifying yourself as an "Otaku" carries a stigma that bronies could never even hope to achieve.
That's all the article is saying. It's saying that it's a little bit unfair to bash on one specific fandom based on the idea that they're "worse" than others despite, you know, that it's really not any worse than most of the others. For all the talk of wanting bronies to clean up their fandom, JO sure doesn't talk at all about other fandoms who have the same problem. Especially not the anime fandom.
Oh, and this right here?
This is pretty much the most childish strawman you can possibly come up with. I mean, if you look at the guy's other blog posts, you'd see he's pretty involved with blogs like Bronies against Bullshit whose stated goal is, and I quote, "to call out, critique, support, and analyze [the brony fandom] in a constructive and mature manner," as well as Ponies for Parents, which is about creating a safe space for younger pony fans on the internet.
Really dude? I wasn't even trying to start an argument, I just wanted to report on something that happened, but then you respond with this post that makes it clear that you missed the point entirely?
Ugh, whatever. I guess it doesn't really matter, I can't force you to change your mind. But at the very least I hope you think about your position before making another statement like that.

If you weren't trying to start an argument than what was the point of posting the link?
Now the thread is going to dissolve into three pages of Jesu Otaku vs. Bronies. Again.
News was slow. Something related to a TGWTG producer happened, and I felt that would belong here. Maybe I was being stupid or naive for thinking it wouldn't descend into this again, who knows. I just felt like it should have been at least mentioned.
I'd rather just place a moratorium on the subject of Jesu Otaku regarding Bronies. Enough. Mentioning the two in a post together should result in a thump. (yes that would include my posts)
Fair enough. I apologize.
Gotta agree that its silly when people are completely unaware that every single fandom in the existence has exactly the same problems Its really something that applies to every geeks more or less.
ATLA would like a word with you.
Long live Cinematech. FC:0259-0435-4987Sure, I can agree with that. I just think the severity of it is kind of exaggerated, and that it's a little bit unfair to focus exclusively on a fandom that you don't even really consider yourself a part of, while ignoring the same problems in your own fandoms.
Anyway, the Rap Critic is doing an AMA ("Ask Me Anything") on Reddit right now. If any of you guys have a Reddit account, why not try asking him something here?

As a consequentialist, I'm not sympathetic to the idea that porn you don't like is an "issue".
I'm fine with finding ways to prevent kids from accessing it. I'm not fine with the viewpoint that it existing is a bad thing.

I don't want JO to be an unperson entirely. I want her it to be forbidden for us to talk about her in regards to that particular subject because that's all we ever talk about whenever her name gets brought up anymore.
Like, can we talk about something else she does please?? She posted a text review of the Attack on Titan dub. We could talk about that.
And no we can't talk about how she doesn't like TV tropes either. That's not an option.

The most common complaint by far is that he has a tendency to judge songs only by their lyrics and interpret them as literally as possible, rather than judging a song by how fun it is to listen to. I mean, I love Daft Punk and their songs very rarely have any meaningful lyrics.
This latest review did seem a little better about avoiding that, though.
