Just hit HR 100 and unlocked the single most insane quest in the game; Kushala Daora, Teostra, and Nergigante all tempered with the standard 3 cart failure.

This is going to be interesting and likely painful.

Aside from that I have one more quest to unlock and a few to complete and I'll be done with my solo goals and start hitting multiplayer.

Part of me wants to see more thunder monsters, the other part is good with just the Tobi since all of my main armor requires severe thunder resistance patching up.

Zinogre is screaming to get in the game. I'd be surprised if they actually don't end up putting him in there.

A snowy area is pretty inevitable if they're adding new maps, I think, and yeah, there is a lack of ice monsters. I think it'd be interesting to see a wetlands kind of area though. Not swampy like parts of the Wildspire Waste are, but like a river delta sort of thing, lots of rivers and streams criss-crossing. Could have aquatic monsters swimming in them, and travelling between areas via river.

I think an "actual" cold area would be the most probable way to go, although I'd love to see a new swamp map (not really sure if the Rotten Vale fits the bill; it's more of a unique thing).

And, as much as people want Zinogre back, I'm personally more for Tigrex or Nargacuga. Them seem to fit quite nicely in the game's idea - though I'm not sure if I'd like to run from Tigrex or just chase it around in the map again, lol

I never want to fight a tigrex again. I actively dislike this one.

Let barioth come back. he's ice-element, he's fuckin awesome, and he's a better tigrex than tigrex ever was.

[up]I honestly wouldn't say Barioth is like Tigrex at all. Their fighting styles are just too different to me.

I know, they're nothing alike, it's just the body form that is similar. But I really want barioth to come back.

I would be curious to see what Tigrex turf wars look like, especially given its sheer aggression. Capcom, add Tigrex in and give us a Deviljho vs. Tigrex turf war!

Sapphire Stars Guidance was nowhere near as hard as I was fearing.

I spent a whole day clearing all the other quests and getting ready then went through it with no carts on my first try with 12 minutes to spare. It's set up so that there's only one monster on the field at a time so you basically have three one cart 15 minute tempered elder hunts back to back with time between to heal and re-equip as needed.

[up][up][up] Idk, I'd describe Barioth as a snow Narga - their body types and movesets are much more similar to each other than Tiggy's. Of all three, I like Narga the best.

I'm still curious as to whether bringing Rajang back would be a cool idea. I believe it could provide nice fights and scare some people, but I'd have to bring the old GS style back to fight it, what with the relatively small openings. [lol]

It's not a cold weather or ice monster, but I want Qurupeco to come back. It's weak, and would probably lose any Turf Wars it would provoke from calling scarier monsters in, but it could inject a little added chaos to the game and I always welcome that.

[up][up] I was thinking that too. From what I understand, Qurupeco's gimmick would be a good match for the way World's mechanics work. Might need some tweaking, though. Maybe it could lure something over from another part of the map, and then run away just before it arrives to save itself from turf wars and dump the threat on you. On the other hand, there are already so many fire monsters and flying wyverns that...wait, no, Qurupeco is a bird wyvern. Just the fire, then. Still, it's inevitable that we'll get a few more fire monsters, so as long as we get a lot more water, ice, and lightning monsters, having it be one of them wouldn't be a problem.

I'd definitely like Barioth in. You know how I said that most of the ones I'm familiar with were in several games in a row already? I haven't fought Barioth, and it's only been in XX since 3U, so that's one of the few monsters I can say for sure I want in.

Looks like some kind of raid.

[up]Looks more like a multiplayer team to me.

Wonder what this monster is classified as. My first guess is Elder Dragon, but you never know...

artfulscruff Since: Apr, 2010
#4570: Apr 17th 2018 at 8:52:44 AM

Well... yeah, it's a multiplayer team. I'm not sure what your point is there. I meant a raid in the sense that it looks like there's specific mechanics to the encounter, not just whack it till it dies.

I could be wrong of course.

edit - And I'd guess it is an elder dragon too, since the video shows a hunter collecting sign marked by blue scoutflies.

I'm used to "raid" referring to battles where a whole bunch of players gather to fight a boss with a lot of HP.

Was trying to say that the group in the trailer looked like a standard Monster Hunter multiplayer team consisting of 2 to 4 hunters rather than a raid group.

Might be it just has enough health that the cannons help, but aren't actually necessary.

I mean

cannons and junk are usually part of special elder dragon fights

[up]The Battlequarters of 4 Ultimate being a prime example.

Also, according to this tweet, the Kulve Taroth is a female Elder Dragon.

EDIT: Huh. According to the Monster Hunter Fifth Generation Monsters page, up to 16 hunters can fight this thing, so it is kind of like a raid.

So we're getting entirely new DLC monsters, not just returning ones? That's good to know.

Maybe we can get a few more monsters in underrepresented categories. Sure, Zinogre isn't the only fanged wyvern anymore, but the snake wyvern, temnoceran, and amphibian categories were just introduced in 4, and excluding subspecies, they still only have one or two monsters each. I was hoping they'd do more with that in World, but they didn't, and I assumed the DLC would only be existing monsters. If they're introducing new ones too, then it's a different story.

Also, more fanged beasts, carapaceons, or other non-wyvern monsters would be nice. I know MH loves its dinosaurs and dragons, but the other games I've played had at least a little variety. World barely has anything else - even the ones like Paolumu and Odogaron that aren't visibly reptilian are still wyverns by classification.
