Got around to watching the whole TGS trailer yesterday. Aside from what’s already been mentioned, it looks like there’s actual voice acting now. Not surprising or anything, but I’m pretty sure it’s a first for the series unless Stories has it too.
Speaking of which, is there any official pronunciation guide for the monsters’ names, or are we all just guessing?

I take it you mean the localized names?
Yeah, the ones that aren’t written phonetically. :P
And I mean in general, not just the new ones in the trailer.

Well, we know how some of the Japanese names are pronounced thanks to Ride On. I'd say we look at the dub for the localized names, but nope, the first episode's dub used the Japanese names as well, and I don't have much faith in Funimation to have changed that.
And speaking of Stories, the Zelda DLC (featuring Epona) is coming stateside this week.
Will the transhumanist future have catgirls? Does Japan still exist? Well, there is your answer. — UnknownThe dub used the Japanese names? Guess Funimation didn't do their homework.
Now that I'm in the US, I'm able to connect online while playing MH4U. This was the only way I could finish the goddamned Fire Drill quest, because I had tried everything with that quest. Unfortunately, Black Gravios mopped the volcanic floor with our asses. Three times. Admittedly, we were a little reckless against it and understimated those fire lasers; I just hope it's not another wall for me because I already want to reach Gogmazios.
What armor would you recommend me to make among these? Seltas Z, Monoblos Z, or neither?
135 - 169 - 273 - 191 - 188 - 230 - 300Are you able to make Regios X? It might help with bouncing weapons and losing sharpness on Black Gravios.
... And that's called jazz!So people are still online in 4U? My brother finally started a game (or, more accurately, picked up the one he'd started but barely gotten anywhere in), so it's good to know playing with randoms is still feasable. Unless they're only there to do G-rank...
Gonna try that. Seregios gave me trouble at first in G, but after farming the parts for the Seditious Axe I have surpassed it.
My only concern is that it gives you Slow Sharpening (and it's near impossible to negate it as the number of points is -14). It appears like Seregios doesn't like bathing.
135 - 169 - 273 - 191 - 188 - 230 - 300Well, you can get around that by leaving the area or doing it during a mount. Do you have a Sharpener talisman, btw?
... And that's called jazz! Not sure, I have to check.
I didn't know you could sharpen during a mount, by the way.
135 - 169 - 273 - 191 - 188 - 230 - 300I didn't either.
Sorry, I forgot to clarify: during someone else's mount.
... And that's called jazz!OK, that makes a lot more sense.
I got almost all parts necessary to craft the Seregios armor, but I decided to take a brief rest from G rank and started looking at the enormous amount of DLC I cropped (I was unable to even connect my 3DS online in Venezuela, remember?). One of the event quests picks the hunter against an Akantor... and you only have 20 minutes to defeat it. O_o
Dang, and it's a high-rank quest....

PS 4 beta details http://www.capcom-unity.com/dubindoh/blog/2017/12/01/monster-hunter-world-playstation-plus-beta-details
Well, they've been showing this feature since long ago in the promotional material. I guess it's pretty cool for when there are two monsters in the map and the weapons you're most proficient with against them are from different classes. Plus, this reduces the need for Blast weapons (unless you don't want to waste time getting back to the camp). I'm fine with that.
And IIRC we can preload the beta tomorrow, right?
... And that's called jazz!Yeah, has been shown for a long time, but I'm still not totally on board with it. You make a good point about having different monster types on the map though. I think what I'd have liked is you can take one other loadout with you, and switch to that at camps, rather than having access to your whole inventory.
And shit, yeah, the beta is that soon. Damn, do I want to get in on it? I've got all this Destiny 2 to play already, do I have time for both?
Another article about the beta. You can indeed preload from midnight tonight. Assuming that means GMT... that as of 23 minutes ago.
I guess that's the main point for welcoming this new feature: let's say there's a Rathalos and a Rajang in the map. I'd rather fight Los with an Insect Glaive and, while I can also handle Jang with it, I prefer using the GS. Plus, even if I decided to use the IG for both, I would have the option to exchange a Dragon weapon for an Ice one, for example. Blast weapons have been insanely popular since 3U because they are effective on most monsters, but they made elemental weapons lose a bit of space. I hope this helps them rise in usage.
... And that's called jazz!I haven't played since Tri, so most of that is just words to me :p I tend to pick a weapon type I find fun and that I feel like I can use effectively, and stick with that, rather than going for different types for different creatures.
Playstation Store beta link for those who want it, I couldn't find it in the store on the PS 4 itself for some reason.
I was told just to holler them to this thread so that the mod in charge of the video game thread would come see it and junk
