I just got the game today; you might have to wait a bit for me to start going through the main game, though, as I have a tendency to waste a lot of time on character creation in games...
Peace. Pace. Sanity. Check out my DeviantArt! ^_^I'll be picking it up tomorrow.
And yeah, character creation is a drug to me. :P

Well I think my online account namey thing is Errickfoxy.ville, I'm not sure if buddying in PSN is enough or if you have to buddy within Geo Net as well.
I'm enjoying the gameplay... But did they seriously call that guy Ebonwing the Nightlord of Darkness?
So far I'm really enjoying this game. Very deep customization, a battle system that plays like a streamlined version of FFXII's system, massive areas to explore, and some epic giant enemies.
Quick question to those in the know: once you upload your Hometown, can other players visit it even when you're offline?
Peace. Pace. Sanity. Check out my DeviantArt! ^_^I would assume so, though I haven't tried uploading one myself yet.
Hmm, maybe... I haven't spent enough time deciphering how to work GeoNet properly. :P

Peace. Pace. Sanity. Check out my DeviantArt! ^_^Yah, mostly I've done my quests from the map screen, which saves you much of the trouble of navigating Geo Net, but that method's only really suited for running one mission, not for forming a group up to run them multiple times, if that's what you're up for.
I mean it's not too bad, either finding a room to join, or starting one yourself. It's just a bit.. complicated compared to what most people expect from an online interface thing.
I've yet to really explore the whole Geo Net thing beyond the towns, so I'm not really sure what can and can't be done with it or how to use it. I'm planning on checking all that out once I beat the game (I'm not quite sure I want to stick with spear right now, so I want to rebirth before I hop online).

So I haven't done any quests online, but I think I've gotten the hang of using GeoNet. Yes, people can visit your HomeTown even if you're offline; you make a room like most other games (up to 20 per HomePage) and it loads up the HomeTown of that page as the hub.
If anyone's interested in tackling the starter quests (unfortunately, I'm still GR1 - though I can't exactly change that unless I finish some quests, eh? ) with me, my HomePage's ID is [Demovere_Xeno.Ville]; let's see if we can schedule something.

Peace. Pace. Sanity. Check out my DeviantArt! ^_^I'll probably hop on later, and see if I can't find you guys to add you. My roommate's already finished the story though: P But then he'd been playing like 10 hours a day every day since I bought the damn thing, so maybe it's not as short as he makes it sound. Hehe.
Even then I suspect this is structured not unlike Monster Hunter or PSO, wherein the story is relatively short but you can do online missions and stuff.. I dunno. we'll see.
I'll post my name and such in just a bit.
Is anyone else finding the story So Bad, It's Good?
Edit: Ah. It seems it's just my PSN name. genkio.

Seems that way, Errick; you can switch between the story and GeoNet as long as you can access the world map. And yeah, I also have a friend who has quite a lot of spare time to breeze through games like they're going out of print. He and I are planning to tackle the quests together, so I'm worried he's gonna overtake me level-wise pretty easily.
Yeah Miijhal, I get that vibe from the story, too. It would be a fairly standard fantasy-esque adventure with giant robots! if not for a quite a number of oddities I've seen. I kinda feel sorry for Yulie, actually (you guys should know what I mean ).

Peace. Pace. Sanity. Check out my DeviantArt! ^_^WARNING: despite it's name this game is NOT about the White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan. DO NOT buy this game if you're expecting: Lynching, Racebaiting, The Birth of a Nation, Neo-Nazis, White Pride, Hitler Youth, Hitler Adults, The Tea Party Convention, etc
cool game despite all that, way better then dark cloud 1 with its horrible plot obviously made up as they went along and piss poor ending
Said roommate tells me there's a New Game Plus upon completion, which causes everything to scale to you, so even if it's short you can still go back and make use of your nifty upgraded stuff.
I'm hoping there's a Bonus Level of Hell or similar, since I've yet to see a Level-5 game without one.
What bugs me is the microtransaction nature of portions of the game. Unless some parts open up as you do the story or something and I just haven't seen them yet, the only way to get houses that hold 3 residents is through real life cash, an there's a lot of job and decorative georama parts that are also cashed, and you can't even redesign your character's looks without paying real life cash into it. So that bothers me a bit, feels like they withheld parts of the game to get you to pay them more, but then.. hell I dunno.
It's not quite ULTRA GAME OF THE YEAR like I was expecting, but it's definitely solid and worth my money. I'm just not sure yet if it's worth giving even more money to after buying it.
EDIT: Oh wait, it's Bonus Dungeon I'm thinking of. And we renamed it Planet Heck? Odd.

..."NOW WATCH AS I REVEAL MY TRUE FORM!" -KICK!-
Word of advice: if you don't want a very important cutscene to be unintentionally awkward, don't make Kara run around in the buck. I had heard she'd eventually leave the party, so I removed everything she had equipped and gave all her items to my other characters... I do hope Ceasar enjoyed that little incident...
On that note, the story is getting better.

I got the game two weeks ago. I liked it, although I was a bit disappointed that my Avatar is simply an extra and has absolutely no involvement in the story, other than being someone to talk to before Leonard finds Yulie -_-
She does all the freakin' work and they act as though she doesn't even exist! She should forget them and join the Magi ._.
Yeah, it's a shame Level5 didn't implement the avatar in the single-player story cutscenes better. I would've loved to see my avatar kick Dragias' rear, trash those hired goons in Albana, and get visibly annoyed at another fetch quest in Greede! Heck, what if Level5's planning to give your avatar their own Knight in WKC2 (though they'd really have to find a way to balance it for online co-op, as right now even just one Knight is epic hax)? Hopefully, they do at least make your avatar matter more in single-player storylines.

Peace. Pace. Sanity. Check out my DeviantArt! ^_^Eh. Knights are great until you find yourself between two giant enemies and a horde of tiny ones. Once the heals stop coming...
So they could be balanced in the next game. If the amount of enemies scaled to the amount of players like a lot of online RP Gs do, then it wouldn't be much of a problem.

I dunno much about the second one but I just finished the storyline in this one. Won't go into detail lest I spoil it for anyone reading this who hasn't played (and I forgot how to do spoiler tags, heh) but I do feel a little disappointed by the final boss.
I appreciate that they fully avert Wutai Theft though by letting you continue to have access to any missing party member's inventory. And it seems to me that there's no reason to start New Game+ until you're at least GR 7, since the new chest contents so far seem to be the level 35+ GR 7+ stuff. Since you can't as easily start/join quests without access to the full world map, I imagine it's probably best to wait.
Beat the game yesterday myself. Yey massive cliffhanger.
And poor Yulie. My character was the only one in the group who got less lines than she did...
edited 21st Feb '10 2:43:25 PM by Miijhal
I hate Yulie. But it's less because she's annoying and more because she greatly resembles one of my OCs. Why couldn't SHE die instead of Kara? Kara was awesome.
I'm currently at GR 5... it's taking forever, and at the same time I also want new weapons and armor ._.
I like Yulie. She's cute. :P
I'm still on GR 1 right now. Just finished the main storyline, so I haven't really done any missions yet.
I bought it, I'm liking it, I'm confused by the online implementation.
I'd ask if anyone wants to buddy me up or something in it, but I'm not quite sure how. Hehe.
