He's a glorified pallet swap of a Prinny and is probably more popular in Japan than the other Defenders are?
In fairness, Asagi's even more of a given than she usually is since she popped up in both the opening and D5's cover art.
DD2's Asagi appearance wasn't a post-game mission so much as it was an optional couple of maps, though, so it could be anything really.
(Also worth noting that, despite everything that would suggest otherwise, Kurtis never showed up in DD2 at all. Again, could mean anything)

"Tell them to shut up and have some faith in me." - dead flashback guyI think because they can easily just do minor edits on Prinny sprites for him. But even he got phased out with the transition to the "HD" sprites (indeed, the whole "Defender of Earth" subplot doesn't get so much of a mention in DD2, despite it being a massive part of D1 and DD2 being a massive love letter to D1 otherwise)
But yeah. Post game is currently looking kinda weak. Even if we assume that the "classic" versions of Laharl, Flonne, and the other one are getting in (though I doubt it. I dunno, I'd feel gipped to pay for "the same characters you get in the post game, but in very slightly different costumes"), the folks left seem like a weak showing. Basically, Asagi, Phantom Brave peeps (if NIS remembers they even exist, mind), and maybe Marjoly (again, if NIS remembers she exists)
Maybe NIS will pull a D3 and put in a bunch of obscure or otherwise unexpected characters in. Shrug.

Don't PM me. We don't like being PMed.Marona and Ash cameo all the time in Disgaea.
I would be very surprised if they didn't show up somehow.
EDIT: They brought back Darkdeath Evilman last time.
Maybe there'll be a bunch of Zettai Hero Project characters?

So I've been looking at the list of DLC characters and somethings seem to be missing such as the female Ninja, along with Gig, and Ash. Also the whole guide and pack things that they seem to be doing. I wonder if the DLC is going to be different this time especially with how fast the DLC is coming out, like each DLC guide will actually be its own mini scenario and after the completion of it you get the characters.
Also since it is coming out so soon, I wonder if you'll be able to use it in the main game rather than just the post game.
As for what post game is left. Well the Awakened Fate Ultimatum has just come out, and so has Hto L#NiQ has also come out recently they may be using the post game to advertise for those games.
This just seems so strange especially since I've heard that you will be able to get Void Dark and his Generals in the post-game.
...That may actually be the whole reason why. If post-game is entirely characters who're directly relevant, then, of course, the cameos will be DLC.
That said, they do have some options outside of the confirmed DLC characters. Some not brought up:
- One or both variations or Priere
- Criminal Girls cast
- Nisa
- Lilliel
- Plume
Prier(e) is being sold alongside the Makai Kingdom peeps.
Also, while I do like the idea of the post game being about getting otherwise "enemy only" units, which is what I think DD2 and the DLC scenerios for D3 and D4 did, I always saw it as kind of a fan's reward to be able to unlock older characters and cameos after beating the game (...even if any sane fan would never grind far enough to get most of them. >_>)
To relegate the bulk of the familiar faces to DLC seems rather greedy (for lack of a better term), and I hope the post game proper doesn't disappoint.
NISA seems like she is on her way to being retired, since she no longer appears in Neptunia any more (though I think all of the game dev characters have been downplayed-if-not-outright-phased-out outside of the Noire game nowadays), but I think those other "recent" NIS characters who had Disgaea cameos before have a chance.

Don't PM me. We don't like being PMed.Nisa was quietly axed from the Neptunia series due to broken-down relations between NIS and CH after a large exodus from NIS to CH. She still proceeded to keep making appearances in Disgaea, and, contrary to other cameos, it never notes that she's from Neptunia in-game (only on the PSN store pages).
Though, yes, a lot of the Makers have been really downplayed in the series as of late.
I agree on the subject of being a fan's reward, but I never bothered personally.

I wonder if Pleinair's scenario (if she has one) will mention that she was scrapped from being playable in DD 2.

She was DLC in the PSP port of D2, so...?

Don't PM me. We don't like being PMed.Oh, so Nisa's DLC as well.
*shrug*
DD2*
Which incidentally rendered her evility in that game entirely pointless.
"Tell them to shut up and have some faith in me." - dead flashback guyEh, I've gotten out of Disgaea; it's starting to feel more like work than a game.
Your momma's so dumb she thinks oral sex means talking dirty. If you feel that way, just play it the way I do:
Absolutely no grinding except maybe at the final boss if they pull stupid bullshit like DD2 for it. Test your skill, not your ability to have higher stats than your opponent.
Downside is that you can't play the post-game this way, since they immediately drop the concept of a reasonable level curve.

Xenolith was actually pretty hilarious once you realize that Magic Boost, Shield, and adequate MOV all utterly ruin his gimmick.
Still long as hell, of course, but it's a poetic demonstration of how much INT units are going to dominate from that point forward.
"Tell them to shut up and have some faith in me." - dead flashback guySo we can declare today (March 26th) Laharl's birthday safely, then?
The characters have birthdays?
I am pretty sure around D3, they even stopped giving them ages (though I think the D4 cast eventually got ages)

Don't PM me. We don't like being PMed.A surprise party for Laharl is the plot of the DD 2 DLC scenario, and it came out today in Japan.
This being Disgaea, I can only imagine Laharl's reaction to being Demoted To DLC.

Watch him be all like "I got two games, your screentime is irrelevant".
Of course, fridge logic sets in when you realize that DD2 is chronologically set before his invading other games trying to get the main character role back, but NIS isn't known for it's tight continuity.
Don't PM me. We don't like being PMed.Sicily: "What is 'main character' supposed to mean?"
"Tell them to shut up and have some faith in me." - dead flashback guySo how is DD 2? I think I am just getting done with 4 Vita.
While it will likely never happen (cameos don't tend to mingle), but I want characters from D2 or D3 (but not D4, since they already know her via the DD2 post game) to question Laharl on him suddenly having a angel sister and him being all "I had her around before I even met you!" and them denying it and pointing out how little sense it'd make for him to leave her unsupervised when he brings along Flonne and Etna most of the time.
Just something poking fun at the Sicily retcon as well as some sporking of Remember the New Guy?.
Don't PM me. We don't like being PMed.
It says that Laharl etc are the DD2 DLC, meaning they may be alternate versions of the characters. D4 had two Flonnes.
No Phantom Brave, so that's probably post game. No Stella or Rutile, but they're probably not included at all. No Soul Nomad, which probably means no Gig. No Marjoly, but she hasn't really been postgame since D2, right? And no Asagi.
Edit: Forgot Kurtis. Why he of all people keeps showing up I don't really understand.
