I don't really care about the whole timeline thing, I just expect it to be fun to play and funny as...well...hell.

BUY A CAR FROM ME!In other news, I picked up La Pucelle on PSN recently. I really wish the portable version was out in English, 'cause the game seems to be the sort that lends itself better to that.

So yeah, DD2 follows from Hour of Darkness. OK.
Also, I am still sad Ragnarok never came out in the West. I always wanted to play La Pucelle.

Don't PM me. We don't like being PMed.I'm cautiously optimistic about a direct sequel to Disgaea: Hour of Darkness. The only cause for cation is that the reason Disgaea became a Final Fantasy style series in the first place was because NIS didn't think they could make a direct sequel to the first Disgaea.
I've played parts of La Pucelle, it's not bad, but you can definitely tell it was made before Disgaea.
What I would really like to see is another game that uses the movement and ringout system of Phantom Brave.

The limited edition bundle looks awesome, but my Japanese is terrible.
"Doctor Who means never having to say you're kidding." - BocajI'll have to admit, I'm slightly disappointed at this apparent "direct sequel" thing. Not only does it lessen the impact of Laharl's supposed big return, but it'll make him look like even more of a brat considering his cameo appearances in the true sequels' post-games.
On the other hand, the issue with FA!Flonne is cleared up for the moment, at least.

"Tell them to shut up and have some faith in me." - dead flashback guyHey it's a Yuan.
Anyway, yeah, it being a direct sequel does bring up some concerns: will it even attempt to gel with Laharl and co's cameos in other games, or will it just do it's own thing (this one isn't that major a concern though) My main concern is that storywise it ends up just being a rehash (gameplay wise I suspect good things)
I guess in a series with a rotating cast, returning to one particular cast does make me afraid they'd just repeat their character arc instead of moving forward.
Don't PM me. We don't like being PMed.Hullo, Otherarrow. *spins*
I'm actually really happy that it's a direct sequel, continuity issues aside. I suppose that means we won't get to see Mid-boss or Kurtis in this game.
"Doctor Who means never having to say you're kidding." - BocajSo long as we don't see Axel either.
Eh, I can see Kurtis sticking around. We know we reincarnates due to the credits image...but we don't know when that is. I think the other Disgaea games quietly use the same excuse for Prinny Kurtis. Of course, naturally getting him into the story without either Gordon or a lot of flashback/recapping might be more of a problem.
...I have no clue what Vyers's canon status is. I think as of D4, he is back to being Krichevskoy full time. But yeah, I'd say him showing up is...possible? Since he is tied to Laharl, it would be less jarring than Etna in D2 or Axel in D4 (as much as I enjoy his role there)

Don't PM me. We don't like being PMed.Well, I'd like to think the presence of Laharl's pants means it happens after 4 and is simply a direct sequel in that it picks up with the cast of Disgaea one and continues their story. So a slight times skip between Disgaea and Disgaea D2.
Actually, I'll definitely get a chuckle out of it if all of the other protags try to come in and take his limelight. Complaining about how he got a second game and they don't. Asagi leading the pack with the complaint that she doesn't even have one game yet...
Mega Man fanatic extraordinaireFor all we know, the pants mean nothing in terms of time: he just wanted to wear pants that day.
The idea of all the other Disgaea heroes (and Asagi) showing up in the post game to complain about Laharl getting a second game is amusing though (though I suspect that Adell and Valzy would have a different reason. Complaining about meta stuff doesn't seem to suit them)

Don't PM me. We don't like being PMed.Well pants = older seems to at least make a little sense...
to me...
It would be sort of interesting if the post-game had Laharl running up against Valvatorez on his quest to overthrow God and become the God King of All Cosmos. But... oh, wait, it would be a cameo. Hmm. Okay, never mind. I guess I should just cross my fingers that it doesn't take place in a sardine cannery.
Yeah, the cameos do have a track record for character exaggeration.
...Though I'd be fine if Valzy led the fight against God from a sardine themed battle ship.
Don't PM me. We don't like being PMed.Now watch him end up having to face Tyrant Valvatorez in the post game due to the timeline placement.

"Tell them to shut up and have some faith in me." - dead flashback guyThe pants make him look taller and skinnier (and thus older). And also a little more like Vyers. What's next, he'll get a jacket too?
"Doctor Who means never having to say you're kidding." - BocajI think that Etna would look good with a jacket, actually.
Clearly, by the end of the game, he'd have the full Vyers outfit. As of D4, Vyers/Krichevskoy is no longer using it anyway.
Don't PM me. We don't like being PMed.More info on Compile's Monster Game. All I have to say is, I don't think this one is coming over.
Hyped for Hyperdimension Neptunia V 2Well that is gimmicky and potentially pervy.
Don't PM me. We don't like being PMed.My friend found Soul Nomad at the local Gamestop.
Freaking game is just so fun.
Actually played as female!Revya this time (aka canon!Revya).
So yeah, that's what I'm doing right now.

Mega Man fanatic extraordinaireI've always wanted to play Soul Nomad.
But I've heard it was even more rare than La Pucelle...which is rare.
Don't PM me. We don't like being PMed.I find it funny how GameStop and EB Games always seem to have rare games in stock when I walk in. Did I ever bring up the time that, when Neptunia 1 was still rare, I found a limited edition on the shelf and bought it without knowing about that?
Currently just level grinding for that infernal Raspberyl level and its level 270 monsters and the level 300 boss.
Val is well into his 300's, but I need to catch up everyone else, and get them stronger weapons. I do like the highest level weapons, even the Gigas Club extends Hogan's reach.
Kill=Vearn is still being very useful after being reincarnated, at last, into his next tier.
As a whole, I'd say my team is progressing nicely. I do admit I miss the massive area of effect skills that were seemingly common in Disgaea 2, but I can deal.
Desco is catching up with Val, it certainly helps that she is the vehicle of my monster level grinding operation.
