It would mean some serious gamer skills if you could get through it, but frankly, I'd only consider it if I could abuse emulator save states.

If everyone were normal, the world would be a dull place. Like reality television.

its not a matter of skill, or stategy.

its just blind fucking luck.

thats what pisses me off so much.

honestly, i cannot see a single benefit to playing on lunatic mode. its not harder. its just more unfair. and same as hard mode the moment chapter 4 ends the "difficulty" gets replaced by tedium. even if i want more challenge, the developers have demonstrated they are utterly incompetant at creating it.

Bragging rights; beating Lunatic mode places you above the silly little RNG, and dash all who say otherwise.

[up] and lunatic+?

i fail to see how RNG is below you just because you beat lunatic, when lunatic+ is after, and its worse.

Meh, at that point, considering Lunatic+ proves that you're either extremely dedicated, or obsessed.

Hard mode was mostly fine. Decent challenge, but I never felt it was ridiculous, even with zero grinding.

[up]That too.

Hector Mode is perfect. Eliwood was fine as a protagonist, but Hector is even better.

Though I don't like his map theme, as much as I did Eliwood.

The big downside to Hector mode is that it's him waiting forever to promote instead of Eliwood. Both times I played it Hector hit 20 on the first trip to Dread Isle and spent most of the second half guarding Merlinius.

Hey, question. Is it normal that after I complete the game once, unit movement speeds up by a shitton?

Unit movement as in when they move around the map? You might have accidentally tweaked the gameplay settings to make them move quickly.

No, I checked that already. And it happened both in SS and BS, oddly enough. But only when I hold down A, though I'm sure that didn't happen before.

Hey, I got another question. I'm not sure if it's against forum regulations, so if it is, just say so. Do you guys know of any good ROM hacks for the GBA games? I'm not sure of the legality of them, though.

Oh. Yeah, that happens no matter what. You can hold down the A Button to speed up both map movement and combat.

It's a nifty feature, when the enemy counter reaches near 50, like in Cog Of Destiny. Though the speed up function in emulators sort of renders it redundant...

I am so pissed. After finally getting through Chapter 11 with the intent of Chrom marrying Olivia, and doing everything I can to ensure that Sniper!Chrom is by her side the entire time, to the point that they were the Heroes of the map, he marries Sully.

This is such fucking bullshit. I only managed to survive out of dumb luck, and to have it all go to waste because fucking Sully fought next to him, like, twice... that's really fucking frustrating.

I think I might be done with Fire Emblem for awhile. I restarted the game so I have to redo that chapter, but I don't think I have the patience for that, not to mention I now know I have to hurry up and get Sully to marry so that she's out of the equation.

Lunatic is one of those modes where one kind of has to treat it like an MMO dungeon, because all the enemies are basically mini-bosses (and on Lunatic+, basically bosses). Lunatic+ is rather RNG-based (mostly due to early Counter spam), but Lunatic can actually be taken down with methodical (and sometimes odd) strategies. A relatively easy way to dominate both is to use Fred (mostly his big pair-up bonuses, although Silver Lance Dual Strikes are very helpful) to snowball a +Def (+Spd works too, but requires a bit more luck with level ups) female Avatar and marry her to Chrom. Once she gets rolling, she'll destroy everything that gets in her way for the duration of the campaign (caps will prevent her from doing the same to post-game). It's possible to get her up to level 6 by the end of Prologue (hint: Chrom and Avatar can go into the water and nothing else can).

I think the next time I replay the game, I'll do an Avatar only run (while allowing Pair Ups) just for kicks and giggles. Any recommendations for the Asset and Flaw if I do that?

[up][up][up]Fire Emblem, eh? When you get down to it, the series is a set of numbers you learn how to calculate, and dream to manipulate.

Other times, Intsys just fucks with you. Peaceful Village is the perfect example. Three NP Cs, all hard to keep alive, and when you do manage to save all three, you find out one gives you a useful Seraph Robe, and the other two give you a fucking ladle and log.

God, I love spotpass teams, aka., the "ruin your/your own day" function. You get to see how other people play without meeting their stupid faces.

I had two memorable experiences in particular, just today; one was a team that was lopsided as fuck; everyone unpromoted, save Vaike, who was moderately well trained, and the avatar, who capped several stats, and was promoted. The next motherfucker had all the dlcs (Some skills and his Morgan's class appeared as outrealm skills/class) at his/her beck and call, and even with my capped units, I could not withstand to the limit-broken units, so I dismissed the team.

There's no middle ground; when your spotpass is on, you're either ruining someone else's day, or you get your day ruined.

How the hell does limit breaker work? Is it a wasted skill-slot, or can you unequip it, and keep your unit's levels?

[up]In a run like that, survivability is king; I think you should go for +Defense as your asset. Not sure about your flaw, though.

Well, Chrom finally got to the end of Sniper. And I'll admit, he was pretty good at it. With a longbow equipped, he would often get Aether, Crits, or Dual Strikes ensuring he only got one use out of it. I could count the number of times he needed to double on a foe on one hand (could be because he was always sitting next to his love interests and Robin. Sumia being one of the two galeforce units I had at the moment made her a very good candidate for grinding maps).

If everyone were normal, the world would be a dull place. Like reality television.

Don't underestimate any fucker with that goddamn bow. From what I read, it was fucking ridiculous in RD, and marginally less so, but still pretty fucking ridiculous in Awakening. It's an even better longbow, and longbows are great to begin with.

Do you guys find enjoyment in sending your min-maxed, capped teams to new players, via a fateful spotpass encounter? Though it makes me feel like a jerk, I do...

I love staff grinding; with Farfort, disarmed units, and ten rescue staves, I got Laurent's staff rank from E, to C. I also got great levels, but this is Awakening we're talking about.

I specifically leave a few extra rare items on my team so that anyone underleveled for them can at least buy some cool stuff off of me.

There's a few people at work I streetpass often, but I don't know who they actually are. They must have just gotten the game, so they must be getting pissed to keep coming across my high-leveled team, or relieved to buy my items that early on. For me, it's nice to see how I'm fairing on this new file against other people.

Also, I caved and replayed chapter 11 after getting Sully and Donnel together. Chrom is now married to Olivia, thank god, and I've second sealed quite a few people now. However, Kellam still makes for a really, really awful healer. Six levels in, still not a single point in Magic, but with a really high strength and defense. War Cleric will be a beautiful promotion. Until then...

Debating about promoting Lissa to Falco Knight or Dark Flier. The latter obviously has Galeforce, but an Owain with Lancefair and access to Axefair, plus Wyvern Lord... it's tempting. Not to mention Lissa gets to keep her staves, which is admittedly really hurting the party right now, since I'm stuck with only meh healers.
