Even if he's in the party for most of the IK route Gunter probably counts like a half since he can't support with anyone.

You can support with Crimson and even have a kid who you can later send to kill her mother when she's revived as a boss.

I'm saying it's irrelevant because one's personal opinion has nothing to do with the fact that the animations are more fluid than ever before. Calling them stiff is objectively wrong.

[up][up]Does Gunter have a child? If so, then they're technically unavailable in IK as well, yes? Or is he just a Kamuisexual anyway?

Also, does IK still have the issue where a male Kamui cannot marry one of the first gen women without rendering some other poor sap a bachelor for life? Or is there enough women now to ensure every fertile male gets hitched and produces a child?

No because no supports with him on IK. I don't recall for sure on Nohr/Conquest, but you can support him on that route. Though he only S supports with Female Kamui so Kanna is his only child.

[up]x3 I see what you mean now, but that person seemed to be comparing GBA sprites with SD models.

[up][up]So Gunter is a Kamuisexual anyway, so him not being able to support in IK isn't a huge loss.

Do you have an answer to my other question?

That person can't help but notice that even if the 3D models are technically more fluid, they're still dull and clunky compared to the vibrant GBA sprites, yes.

The only thing Shadow Dragon really brought to the table is the fun you can have with the reclass system. I mean, I can acknowledge what it was trying to do (i.e., evoke nostalgia for the NES game), but that shot went wide of the mark for those of us who don't have NES memories. Things like "only Marth can visit villages!" slows the whole game down to a slog when you're used to nipping in and out with fast airmobile and cav units, faithfulness to NES games be damned.

Dull is fine. You don't have to like it. Clunky is not. Because they're objectively more fluid than everything that came before them, including the GBA sprites. I too prefer the GBA sprites but the 3d models are more fluid than them. The only animations in the series that can objectively be called stiff or clunky are FE 1, FE 2 and FE 9.

Even if the animations are technically more fluid, that doesn't mean they're gonna feel more fluid for everyone.

Personally, you can tell me they were fluid all you want, but I still think they looked stiff as a board.

speaking of Shadow Dragon,

Apparently in Chapter 11, Anna has alternate dialogue if you visit her house with Jake. All these years of owning this game and I've never thought of doing that until yesterday while playing on H1.

But they are more fluid, they are just dull as well, making them feel less interesting and thus making their fluidity mostly meaningless in the eyes of many. I personally don't like them much since they add no visual interest to fights, but calling them clunky is just wrong.

As for the quality of Shadow Dragon as a whole. The game plays fine, and while some of the mechanics are older, I don't feel like that detracts from the quality of the game because the entire game is balanced around these older systems. Calling Shadow Dragon a bad game from an objective standpoint is blantantly wrong because all of the mechanics are balanced and scaled well for the design of the levels. And saying it's purely a nostalgia trip is disingenuous when the entire western audience does not have nostalgia for it, thus completely dismissing the opinions of those who liked it to try to write off the game as a whole. Whether you enjoyed it or not is irrelevant; you're allowed to not like it, and hell it's my least favorite game in the series (though I like all of the FE games I've played so admittedly that isn't saying much). Your opinions do not automatically make it a badly designed game.

Calling Shadow Dragon a bad game from an objective viewpoint is blatantly wrong because that's the exact opposite of what "objective" means. Would you call a banana an "objectively tasty food"?

Funny thing is that since it was my first Fire Emblem game, I consider playing it to be a nostalgia trip. Note that even back then I could tell that its story and characters were flat and uninteresting.

I'd say Shadow Dragon is bland character wise, aesthetically, and gameplay wise relative to the other games of the post-GBA (or even just post-Genealogy) era. But it's certainly not bad, as the core gameplay of tactical strategy and leveling up are intact and engaging as ever. The main problem is that there are so many interchangeable units, and without Rescue/pair-up/whatever there are fewer ways to make new and interesting strategies. There is reclassing, but that has its own issues. But it's still fun if you just want the core Fire Emblem experience.

Your preferences are not everyone else's preferences.

I was thinking that once I get access to my Wii U again I will buy FE 7 and SS, and play the GBA games in reverse order.

It's probably magic armor. Or just painted gold, because the Goddess is cheap like that.

Gold is soft and hilariously useless as a material.

I think "silver" in FE is generally a descriptor of a weapon's appearance rather than its materials, though. Or it's one of those things where a fantasy metal like mithril is described as silver, or something.

I sure said that!

It's the principle buying your way to victory. The blingier your bling of war, the more you're going to kick ass and take names. Naturally, this means that the shiniest metal, regardless of real world practicality, wins.
