^^ Isn't that one is the problem with trademark troll who register similar name?
Give me cute or give me...something?? There was a trademark dispute, but that had nothing to do with characters. And ZUN had used his authority to deal with people that step out bounds well before
Exclusive Shinmyoumaru interview, post DDC:
Look with amazement on the transcredible exploits of the Sneaky Taoists!
The Tao of Futo!
Shiki's New Face!
Hold Harmony Sacred!
Yes... those comics already were on the dude's tumblr weeks ago, found through this thread. The Futo burning Eiki's face off one is one of my favorite things ever .
The legality of doujinshi is exactly what Hylarn has said on the other page. However, I am thinking that Touhou itself would be considered Indie in the West due to its nature (One-Man Army, etc.,).
...yow. Doing the math in my head makes Touhou more profitable than any other franchise on Steam. It's also an effective entry to Steam on the Japanese side for those who don't know about it that much. Even if each game was priced, say, 10 to 15 a pop, that's really crazy with the snowball effect it would have.
...and Gabe Newell would never finish Episode 3 at this rate. Oh boy

Fandoms are insane.A movie about bunnies (Finnish 4koma)
All she wanted was a movie about bunnies!
Continue the bloodline, Fujimaru!Movie: "All the world will be your enemy, Prince of a Thousand enemies. ... But first they must catch you; digger, listener, runner, Prince with the swift warning."
Tewi: "He's taller in person."
Copyright law can be weird between nations. Games-Workshop, the English creators of Warhammer40000 attempted to support a German fan movie. The problem was, to officially sign off on it and lend their support the 40K license would have basically gone public domain in Germany. "It's ok if these guys make a movie off your product? Ok, then everyone can do whatever they want with it."

"But don't give up hope. Everyone is cured sooner or later. In the end we shall shoot you." - O'Brien, 1984Watership Down scarred me when I was a child.
Even today, the opening bars of Bright Eyes send me into horrifying flashbacks.
Song of the SirensWatership Down is on my reading list for this year, once I'm done with John Rector and Doctor Sleep. I don't think I've read that since high school.

"But don't give up hope. Everyone is cured sooner or later. In the end we shall shoot you." - O'Brien, 1984Copyright is very tricky thing especially between countries.
"Eratoeir is a Gangsta."I'm afraid I must admit that I've never seen Watership Down . Pretty much all I know about it is that Popcultural Osmosis is telling me it's the deepest, darkest abyss of sadness and despair.
I saw Watership Down when I was a kid. I think it's kid-appropriate.
Check out my fanfiction! The distinction between doujin and indie (in Japan) is pretty simple actually. Indie is essentially "small business", a new company trying to work their way into the market. They can't compete directly with the bigger established companies, so they usually try to make something different.
By contrast doujin isn't a business at all (theoretically). They charge money to recoup their costs, but the goal isn't to make money. In fact, they're not even competing with the bigger companies, since they complement them with fanwork that increases the popularity of established brands. The idea is supposed to be that even if they're losing money, they do it just because they love it.
Drawing a specific line may be more difficult, but those are the connotations. While he seems to have relaxed on it a bit, I seem to recall that ZUN was actually somewhat offended a while ago by being called "indie". Since he thought it meant he was doing it for the money, rather than out of love.
I read Watership Down as a book first, and all I recall about the movie is that it cut out a lot of stuff for time. Yes, even as a kid I was reading the book first and complaining about adaptations.
Oh wow, that's genuinely interesting, I didn't know anything about that!
I think I had that for the first time with Star Wars. I was such a book nerd that I ignored the SW movies forever, but I loved the super-old novelizations as a kid/young teen. When I finally then saw the movies, I was also quite confused by a lot of missing stuff, but still loved the movies to bits anyway. The novels had all the Biggs scenes stuff on Tatooine, the mention of Luke's dog, Han having a hot chick on his lap before Greedo shows up, Blue Squadron instead of Gold Squadron, etc.

I would not expect anything less from you.
Song of the SirensI also read the book first.
And then I read Plague Dogs.
Anyway, I'm sure the movie can be found on the youtubes in this day and age.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI'm guessing you gents (and gentesses) have already seen ZUN's panel recap at Anime Weekend Atlanta? I'm usually slightly behind on these things.

In the backyard, buried deep underneath the tree There's a monster, takin' root in the property...Do we have any gentesses? I've always been a bit curious about that.

A few different versions, even.
Edit: That was meant in response to , but it's funnier if it's to .

Check out my fanfiction! So because I was going to start updating my stories again tomorrow, I figured I might as well get with the times and make a Tumblr. And since they require you to follow three other blogs, I added Xion's one about this thread.
The very first post I see is about how annoyed he was about how much IM was talked about and how he'd wait for the discussion to die down so he could contribute again.
I'M SORRY, XION! I DIDN'T DO IT ON PURPOSE! MOSTLY! IT WAS AT LEAST PARTIALLY UNINTENTIONAL, I SWEAR!
Imperfect Metamorphosis and Resonance Days Tumblr!
ZUN only started taking notice of the whole 'copyright' thing when he realized that there was a chance of someone using it to stop him from using his own characters.
