Clearly what ZUN should have done is give her spellcards in a STBish game that contradicted fandom impulse.
"Moe Sign: I just stole your soul"?

Forever liveblogging the AvengersI'm mostly fine with Moekuma, as she actually fulfills a unique role in terms of characterization if the rest of the cast is true to canon. Mind, I'm most fond of the idea of her being a loyal Shrinking Violet Covert Pervert, so there's my two cents.
I sure said that!Compromise: Multiple Koakuma with different personalities
Like some manner of Koa squad.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersIs that my cue?
Eh, it's an old pic.
I wonder how much the mechanics of the fighters are changing in Hopeless Masquerade. Looking at the screenshots, I see a bar instead of spirit orbs, and no cards. However, Reimu's wind kick seems to still be there. And then there's a shot where Marisa seems to be hovering.
I hope most or all of the characters from the Hisoutens make it into the game again.
I have a message from another time...There might also be a Hisouten-style expansion at some point after.
That'd be nice.
I imagine that Sanae and Suwako are a lock to return, considering the story in place. I'd love it if they found ways to work all the previous characters into the story.
I think that Kasen would work well with the story in play. If the human population became bored and apathetic and all that jazz, she'd likely come around to try and scold lecture guide them.
There's no images of the characters unambiguously on the the ground, in fact
It'd be nice, but ZUN has twice already decided against including her elsewhere, so I wouldn't get my hopes up
Third time's the charm? :D
I wonder if Mamizou will be in? With the various religious figures active for the game's story, it would make sense for her to make her own move, since that's what she was supposed to be in Gensokyo for in the first place.
I have a message from another time...If your power was just "flight", would you ever want to be on the ground for any reason?
WHO IS THIS LOSERbecause it feels nice to have some stable footing from time to time
"Seriously, don't eat the mermaid. And not just because it's half cannibalism." ~OtherarrowThe hovering shots make me think of the way Dragon Ball Z Budokai worked. There were various movements that would make your character rise into the air, and it was basically the same as being on the ground, just at different elevations. This being a Touhou fighter, I imagine it'd be easier to intentionally change your elevation, if it worked like that.
I have a message from another time..."There goes Reimu, showing off her power again."
"Is it really showing off if we can all do it, though? I mean, you know. Flight. Look, I'm flying right now."
"Pah, of -course- you can fly, Sanae... you're a goddess. Not nearly as impressive."
"Arghfbblrbl."
Well, Reimu is the only one that's magically flying obviously. Everyone else is doing something that resembles flight but actually isn't.
Like Yukari is just sitting on a gap, Ran spins her tails really fast, Alice holds herself up with puppet string, Minoriko potatoes, fairies and Mystias and vampires and tengu have wings, and onis beat gravity in arm-wrestling way back so gravity promised to lay off.
Forever liveblogging the Avengersmental image of ran just flying to the grocery store, running errands, looking really bored
WHO IS THIS LOSERNone of the rabbits can actually fly. They jump good.
I have a message from another time...I see things a little differently...
"We are just like Irregular Data. And that applies to you too, Ri CO. And as for you, Player... your job is to correct Irregular Data."I wanted to avoid the obvious joke that I'm sure has been done a million times before.
WHO IS THIS LOSERKisume doesn't fly either since she's in a bucket and Yamame is actually hanging from a web. And Chen has a piece of buttered toast strapped to her back.
Yakumi Sarai – Hungry Tiger. Does this circle have a thing about eating people? I think they do. Anyway, Shou has a large appetite cause she's a tiger except she's not a tiger because there are no tigers in Japan but for the purposes of this doujin, she's a tiger. With a large appetite. The fact that this doujin, titled Hungry Tiger, starts with a funeral where a dead baby is taken to Myouren Temple for burial will definitely not come up again. Anyway, Nazrin cut up some peaches and everyone is enjoying them although Ichirin decides to abstain. Yamame and Orin show up from the underground to drop off a special delivery and are invited to stay for food. Everyone but Shou, Nazrin and guests then go to work in the fields. Shou volunteers to help but is told it would reflect badly on her status as an avatar.
Orin gets restless and wants to check out the graveyard because kasha and Shou decides to let her. Orin smells something appealing but just finds a vegetable garden where Murasa is spreading around some fertilizer. They're almost out but Byakuren remarks they'll have to use the 'one' that arrived that day.
After dinner, Nazrin brings Shou some tea on the porch and Shou's stomach rumbles. She says she had enough to eat but looking at the moon makes her hungry and there's an image of a disemboweled body and a bloody mouthed Shou. She's still staring dazed at the moon but Nazrin shakes her out of it by calling her by her family name. A slightly distressed Shou decides to turn in for the night.
Nazrin later goes into the warehouse and tells Byakuren and Murasa that Shou has forgotten last month. The Nazrin that's been walking around is revealed to be Mamizou; Nazrin has really been laid up in bed with a bad case of Shou disemboweled her. The special delivery from Yamame was medical thread that would be used to stitch up the wound. Even just seen from behind, it looks bad. Basically, the youkaitastic atmosphere in Gensokyo, the power of the Moon, and living on a vegetarian diet brought out Shou's wild side and Nazrin happened to be the closest person at the time and received massive damage. They've been keeping it a secret from Shou because they know she would take it badly. Oh, and the baby that had a funeral at the beginning? It gets mashed up for fertilizer.
In the end, they work out an off-screen deal with Orin where she'll bring bodies in exchange for some death fertilized vegetables to expand Okuu's eating habits. Interestingly, Murasa and Ichirin have been foregoing the 'special' vegetables but Nazrin, Kyouko, Mamizou, Shou and Byakuren have not. Byakuren apparently claimed that peaches fertilized with dead people are the source of her youth.
So, yeah, its another eating people doujin by the same circle except this one is a lot more morbid and serious about it and I don't like it as much as the other one. The little bit at the end where apparently Byakuren is all about the dead people vegetables just seems mean-spirited "hypocrite Byakuren" portrayal when the doujin hadn't even been about her. And they even have the new batch of fertilizer be a baby for that extra dose of awful. I guess aside from laser pagoda, there aren't any really good perks for being an avatar. Nothing like being able to subsist on lotus blossoms or whatever. I wonder how Shou survived without randomly eating someone in the thousand years that she spent in the outside world. Sure, it wasn't in Gensokyo's field of effect but still, it was a thousand years with no-one around to make her any big meals. The art style is a little bit off. Expressions just look sort of weird. The art isn't bad though. Nazrin in bed, you get the clear idea that she's in a lot of pain, as having large chunks of you missing is liable to cause. And on a technically arty note, Mamizou Nazrin is wearing her notepad even disguised as Nazrin but at least she didn't have the tanuki tail sticking out. Even Shou probably couldn't have missed that.
Not really something that the doujin can be faulted with but it has a clear sense of having come out before SOPM. Shou declines the 'holy water' alcohol when its passed out (and Byakuren is okay with 'holy water' being served in the first place. Translator's notes say it was a common practice to drink sake and say it was holy water in Buddhist temples so I've learned something today). Yamame and Orin were the special guests when they were singled out in SOPM as two youkai that were not allowed to join the temple because of impure motives like robbing the graves. It is interesting that Ichirin is one of the ones that stays away from the special vegetables considering her SOPM origin as having been originally human. Murasa was originally human too and she also stays away from it. Byakuren does not because this Byakuren eats babies or something.
This is also like the Vintage one in that its played as a sort of mystery. With little hints and clues that could help you add up whats going on. Or you can just look at the cover where Shou is standing on a pile of vegetables and skulls and assume the worst.
Poor Nazrin though. Shou takes a bite out of her and then doesn't even notice that she's been replaced for a month. Its enough to make someone feel unappreciated and then just sort of move out and get their own place near Muenzuka.

Forever liveblogging the Avengersah yes i remember that
"Seriously, don't eat the mermaid. And not just because it's half cannibalism." ~OtherarrowAnd thanks to your avatar, we know how Miko flies.
I have a message from another time...Re: Reimu's flight.
Sure everyone else can fly, unfortunately they can't scale the vertical interplanar axis like Reimu can, meaning that they can't just stop existing when they get too lazy to dodge.
Too bad the fandom ain't care.
man i'm good at accidentally getting page toppers lately
