More Raising Negi
“Important how?” Rikalous asked.
“Well, the first folder has four dollar signs at the top. Money is usually important if you are in a strange place,” I said, taking the file in question from the case and opening it. After giving the contents a quick perusal, I glanced up at the others and said, “Stock certificates.”
SCM looked like he'd been kicked in his remaining leg. “Stock certificates?”
"Stock certificates?" perked up the newly-arrived Nobody. "To what? Are they bearer or registered?"
I held up a hand to stop further discussion, “Considering that two of these certificates indicate shares in Starbooks, I would think some of you would be rather happy.” I resumed perusing the papers, “It looks like there are also shares in Microtech, Relational Software Incorporated, Air Southwest, and Sam's.”
“Sam's?” asked Anemoi.
I nodded, “Since the company logos are on the certificates, it's obvious that Microtech is Microsoft, Air Southwest is Southwest Airlines, and Sam's is Walmart. I'm not sure about this Relational Software Incorporated though.”
“Let me see?” asked Rikalous.
I handed him the certificates in question. He glanced at them and announced, “Relational Software is what Oracle's name was before it became Oracle.”
“Hmmm. Oracle has been around for ages right?” I asked.
Anemoi nodded, “Quite some time.”
“Which makes me wonder when these stocks were purchased.”
“What do you mean?” Rikalous asked. I became the center of attention again as everyone looked my way.
I managed to remain calm enough to answer, “Well... Think about it. One hundred shares of Walmart now is not worth a lot of money. But if those shares had been purchased shortly after they went on sale...”
“They would be worth much more.” IANCE finished.
I nodded, “Especially in paying out dividends. Which is what I think someone had in mind.” I handed the folder and certificates to Anemoi for him to hold before grabbing the last folder out of the case.
The heading read 'Paperwork.' I opened it up and glanced at the contents.
Everyone present saw me sigh and close the folder before I wandered over to the reading glasses display. Before anyone could ask, I answered, “I don't suppose anyone can translate Legalese into something resembling English can they?”
Sam's Club is Wal-Mart?
"Well, I can at least try to," offered Sinclair. "I've read a few legal documents in my life."
Und wenn du lange in einen Abgrund blickst, blickt der Abgrund auch in dich hinein."Go at it one sentence at a time to keep from getting too messed in the head from it."
You didn't know that?
Sam's is Walmart in the Negima universe.
Madman with a box? I'm a madman with a semi, a pretzel bender and a Heart of Gold!EDIT: Now that I've read the main snippet more than once, that isn't quite like I usually talk, but close enough that you can write off any inconsistencies to confusion. I would only ask to use one "Pardon?" in the part when they're asking him for his online name, and add a "pleasure to meet you" during the introduction.

Rather than smart, I'd prefer to be wise. It would let me be silly more often.I would like to make a comment on the fact that Microsoft is named after Bill Gates' penis.

himitsu keisatsu seifu chokuzoku kokka hoanbu na no da himitsu keisatsu yami ni magireru supai katsudou torishimariI do think this will be the last update for today. I am getting a headache and crossed eyes with the research.
Mainly because I had found a source ages ago that stated Walmart stock had split 11 times since the original issuing date. I now can only find information that says it has split 9 times. This bothers me quite a bit as I am Doing The Research as carefully as I can. Any help would be appreciated.
SCM looked like he'd been kicked in his remaining leg. “Stock certificates?”
"Stock certificates?" perked up the newly-arrived Brown. "To what? Are they bearer or registered?"
"We need to be careful with stocks, " said Sereg. "They can be hard to sell when you need the money. Trust me. I know that from experience."

As I looked for a decent pair of reading glasses, Eva Unit suggested, "Go at it one sentence at a time to keep from getting too messed in the head from it."
“I'm already messed in the head thank you kindly,” I muttered as I tried on a pair. Seeing as they fit my head comfortably, I returned to the counter and started studying the paperwork in question. Sinclair came up and peered over my shoulder at the documents.
“What the heck?” he asked. “Iridia Investment Club?”
I nodded, “Now you understand why I wanted someone to help me read this.”
"I might help too, " Nobody lifted his hand. "Two heads are better than one."
"Microtech just ruined all possible 'Small Penis with Erectile Dysfunction' jokes I could have made, and this makes me sad,” IANCE said.
“Why is it every time I type 'win,' I lose?” I mused as I studied the paperwork.
xxxxxxxxxx
The light had faded considerably when the three of us finished our efforts. By 'finished,' I mean 'gave up.'
“It's paperwork,” Sinclair answered when everyone turned to look at us.
I nodded, “Paperwork to be filed with the appropriate agencies for restarting a club, as well as a constitution, bylaws, rules, and liabilities. According to everything written here, those stock certificates were used in order to have the funds to found the club.”
“Really?” asked Eva Unit.
I picked up one of the papers and flipped it open so I could recite, “The initial funds for the founding of the Iridia Investment Club are as follows, then it lists all of the stocks afterwards. It even has the purchase dates of the stocks. Which is of relevant interest, since the shares of Sam's were purchased on October the first, nineteen seventy.” I made sure to glance at everyone before adding, “The day they were issued.”
“So what does that mean?” asked IANCE.
“It means they are worth quite a lot of money now if they were to be sold since the stock has split numerous times since that date. But it also means that the money from the dividends is also worth quite a lot as well, Especially if that money has been sitting in a bank like the paperwork suggests.” I said.

Madman with a box? I'm a madman with a semi, a pretzel bender and a Heart of Gold! That doesn't sound like something I'd ask. At this point, I'd probably not care about the specifics very much, and if I asked that question, it'd be more along the lines of "So, basically, they're worth a lot of money, right? That's really all I care about."
And, though admittedly I don't deal with shares very much, it really does seem an odd thing for me to ask. Not because I know how shares work, since my understanding of them is that of a layman, but because I simply would have no real interest in them beyond knowing how to get a steady source of income out of them.
himitsu keisatsu seifu chokuzoku kokka hoanbu na no da himitsu keisatsu yami ni magireru supai katsudou torishimariJust FYI, in case this come up in the future, I am one of those people who actually read EUL As (most of the time). So I will probably get back to that paperwork after some time to make sure there aren't any weird clauses, like selling our souls to the ROB who got us here.

Und wenn du lange in einen Abgrund blickst, blickt der Abgrund auch in dich hinein.@Nimrod: Just for the record, I'm not that quiet as a person. In fact, my mom often complains about my tendency to talk a lot if the topic is something that I have a strongly vested interest in, usually leaving the other party no room to get a word in edgewise until I finish saying what's on my mind. Oddly enough, she's the only one in my life who ever made such a complaint.
... Oh wait, I'm still bed-ridden somewhere else, aren't I?

Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.Yes, yes you are. I'm working on that though.
Madman with a box? I'm a madman with a semi, a pretzel bender and a Heart of Gold!Anemoi nodded, and pursed his lips. "Sounds like someone's put a lot of thought into this whole thing."
I looked up at him. "Yeah, most of this stuff doesn't look like it was easy to set up.
"But if someone went through all the trouble to set this up, why not do something more proactive?" IANCE asked.
The Brooklyn giant stood up and sheathed his knife. "Dunno. Never had a head for riddles. I'm gonna go check on Negi and Nekane."
I know you all miss meOye, Peggy the pirate, we do not talk about Skysaber.
I know you all miss meOh, we do. A lot. We spent 200 pages talking about much he sucks.

Y'know, it's sad to say, but with this thread? I'm totally not surprised that 200 pages would be spent on that. ^_^
The Clock is Wound, The Future Must Commence! (tm)In our defense, it wasn't actually in this thread.
Has a solid date ever been established for the Great Mage War other than the very bland and vague "20 years ago"?
@SCM I have to agree with Anemoi. As tempting as it is to kick him, I won't stoop as low as he is.
@Anemoi Just how tall are you anyway, out of curiosity?
@Carrie Those 200 pages are on Iridia-tan if you want to have a look.
@Cganale I don't think it was really established, datewise.
Madman with a box? I'm a madman with a semi, a pretzel bender and a Heart of Gold! What does the date of "20 years ago" refer to, anyway? Is it the start of the war, the year of when Nagi and Rakan first met or some other major plot-relevant incident in the middle of the war, or the end of the war?

Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus..... I'm gonna hate my English class for this term.
Administration pulled a fast one on us and switched out the professor. Nice enough guy, no character complaints, but there's something about the voice that just defies my attempts to pay attention.
Given how Akamatsu doesn't give a shit anymore, and he can't even get the date of the last time Eva and Fate met before their rematch right, I doubt we'll ever see any answer on that subject.
It's more tricky than you think. A quick google reveals that there are real companies called milisoft, micron soft, and gigasoft.
EDIT: There is Tiny Software, and Tinysoft.
