Top Gunned isn't helpful as a name. If Top Gun was known for that one thing, it would make sense. But it could be loads of things.

Any more?

I suggest Dodge by Braking, or something similar.

Dodge by Braking is rather awkward, but the current name is meaningless.

You got it backwards. It's dodging by way of breaking.

But Brake Dodging would work, since it still makes it clear it's dodging (not "Dodge Breaking", which implies breaking the dodge).

Hmmm... the associated quote is: "Hit the brakes, and he'll fly right by us."

Also, I think the point of the trope isn't so much about being in the air (as it can be done with ground vehicles too), so while Air Brakes is a cool name not sure that it fits.

It's not really about dodging either.

It's about hitting the brakes so as to bring you opponent into your gun sights while taking you out of their gun sights.

Six To Twelve describes it... but that might go over most people's heads.

Six To Twelve works, but yeah, it'll make no sense to a lot of people.

High Speed Brake Dodging works, since the maneuver's also done in cars.

Except it's not about braking in midair.

Air Brake Overtake?

Alternatively, Forced Overtaking for broader applicability.

What's precedent ever done for us?

Break To Hit From Behind? It's kind of long, but it's clear.

Funny isn't the sole criterion, though - if that's the price we must pay to make sure people actually get it, then so be it.

Air Brake Overtake isn't funny, but it's witty and it sounds good and those are close enough substitutes for funny any day.
