But you'll notice in SEED/Destiny, despite all gundams not being popular, the only machine to destroy another gundam was a gundam. The only exception I can think of would be Sting's Chaos.
I suppose my issue is when no machines without a v-fin are shown to have comparable performance to those with a v-fin.
Fear the Gothilolions! | Anime listStargazer had the Blu Duel Gundam owned by mere Bucue grunts, and the Verde Buster destroyed by the DSSD custom astrays when it ran out of energy. Okay, the latter was due to the pilot's own stupidity, but it still counts.
@Balesirion: They may not have shown it, but considering the whole reason Earth's civilization was reset was because of the Moonlight Butterfly attack... And that was only a portion of what it was capable of...
And there's the whole teleportation, regeneration, and cloaking thing.
Seriously, Turn A could probably give some of the later forms of Gurren Lagann a run for their money. Especially with the 'beam into cockpit' trick.

@ Ninjaclown
I suppose that's true. Oh well, I guess I lose.

Fear the Gothilolions! | Anime listEpisode 9 of The08th MS Team: Wow. Ginias is kind of a dick.
I guess it is.One thing I didn't like about Gundam00 was that they ditched the head vulcans. Seriously, how can you call it a gundam without gatling guns in the head (or on the shoulders)?
Fight smart, not fair....I can't believe I never noticed that.
Wait, what? Why is episode 11 of The08th MS Team the "end"? What's episode 12?
I guess I should just watch it...
I guess it is.^ An epilogue post-war thing.
Fear the Gothilolions! | Anime listThe head vulcans always seemed superfluous to me. I don't think even mooks have been downed by them.
They were in Mobile Suit Gundam at least. In fact, the vulcans seemed pretty effective.

In general, vulcans have only been effective either as a last resort weapon or at very low levels of mecha technology, like in the original series. The one good exception I can think of was in Gundam X, when Garrod used the Double X's chest vulcan to take out a Fragile Speedster mobile suit with unarmored joints.
Well, to be fair vulcans are only 20 mm weapons. That's good for shooting down air craft and, if you keep at it, you could pound on a tank for a while.
Fight smart, not fair.Random Gundam question. The Haros look like they have little hands under their wing flaps. Do they ever actually use them to do anything?
I've seen Haro climb up a staircase using them.
Haro is pretty much just the Team Pet. Unless you count the one in Gundam00 which doubled as a secondary pilot.
Fight smart, not fair.Wing was my introduction to all things Gundam, and to anime in general; the series was pretty good, and Endless Waltz was good, but the redesigned Gundams are ridiculous. The 08th MS Team is awesomesauce, 0083 would've been a lot better if they'd cut out the romantic subplot, and the first coupla DV Ds worth of the original were pretty good...I'm surprised it hasn't been released in a box set yet. Would I be missing much if I just got the movie versions of the original?
For the record, the cabinet over my desk in my office is lined with my Wing action figures, except for the Sandrock I broke.

Perfect grade Wing Zero custom was a bitch to put together because I couldn't do the wiring right. Lots of fun though.
Fight smart, not fair.^^ The compiliation movies, from what I hear, cut out a lot of the cheese from the original series, so you wouldn't lose much plot-wise.
Fear the Gothilolions! | Anime listEh, I think I'll watch episode 12 anyway. Just to see it, you know? I want to form my own opinion on it.

I haven't seen the series, but the compilation movies are very good.
I guess it is.IIRC, the one in the original series had arms and legs that popped out of it.
I watched episode 12. I don't see what's wrong with it. I mean, it was very different from the rest of the series and was missing most of the characters...I think it's best to think of it as something separate from the rest of the show. But really, it was pretty decent imo.
I'm going to watch 0080 next. Unfortunately, I forgot to turn on my computer before I left for school this morning, so the torrent isn't done yet.

I guess it is.
In Wing it did take until midway through the series for the "only a Gundam can beat a Gundam" to fall into place. Before everybody got their new Gundams the pilots got owned when they went up against the mobile doll system.
