I'd like to see an SRPG. Mainly because I like SRPGs, but I can think of several interesting ways to translate danmaku to that format.
Since this thread is actually about the games, I figure this question would be better placed here: Does anyone happen to have a full character unlock save for Phantasmagoria of Flower View? I used to, but it's gone now, and now I need it again.
WHO IS THIS LOSERRight, my two biggest obstacles to a 1CC run of Imperishable Night:
Marisa and Reisen.
Well, and Eirin, but provided I can make it to her stage without sustaining too many losses of lives, I can usually bomb my out way out of that.
How do people get around those spellcards?
Play Again? Y/NI have grown curious as well regarding two things:
- Can all PC Touhou games run off an external hard drive? I'm thinking of getting one soon, and my current computer's HD is rather old and small.
- What's up with the ability to suck in all the bullets on screen without either using a bomb or clearing a spellcard? I've seen it multiple times from videos of EoSD and beyond.

Whenever you enter MAX POWER MODE! every bullet on the screen is deleted and turned into items.
"Only now, after being besieged by a flock of talking ponies, did he really understand what he'd lost. "Also, sometimes they just clear the screen for you before a boss fight. This is simply a scripted part of the stage.
Similarly, sometimes it's also scripted to do this after defeating a wave of enemies on a certain bit of the stage.
This is actually an important part of learning the stage, as you want to kill off this wave before the next come up. If there are stragglers, you'll be quickly overwhelmed by the number of projectiles flying around.
Play Again? Y/NI've been trying to beat Imperishable Night on one credit, but Marisa and Reisen prevent this from happening. PREVENTS. Reimu poses a similar issue. Curse her...
I can bea it using 1 or 2 credits on normal and I can beat it on one credit on easy.

If someone wants to accuse us of eating coconut shells, then that's their business. We know what we're doing. - Achaan ChahI play on it sometimes because I want to fly around like a schizophrenic squirrel on a high...
If someone wants to accuse us of eating coconut shells, then that's their business. We know what we're doing. - Achaan ChahAll of Marisa's spellcards are the stuff that my nightmares are made out of, but there's two that kill me until I die from it, every damn time.
There's one (I think it's the second one) where she fires vertical waves of the big stars that sweep horizontally, and the smaller ones that come at your from the side.
Oh, and Starlight Reverie.
Pain. In. The. Ass.
Play Again? Y/NI play easy mode to relax after failing on normal for a while. It's nice to know that I can at least do something. I think IN has the biggest jump in difficulty between easy and normal though.
^^Those spellcards. Those spellcards. Those spellcards. Those spellcards. Those spellcards. Those spellcards. Those spellcards. Those spellcards. Those spellcards. Those spellcards. Those spellcards.
^I would do that, except that I don't generally play Touhou when I'm in the mood to relax. I play Touhou when I'm looking for a challenge.

I never had much trouble with Marisa. She's not easy, but it never felt unfair or anything. Maybe you're overestimating the size of the stars' hitboxes? Reisen is annoying though.
Does anybody remember Resident Evil 3: Nemesis? The big, hulking, titular Nemesis rasps a guttural "Sttttaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrss..." every time Jill encounters him.
I emulate this mannerism on Marisa's stage.
Play Again? Y/N^Lol, but no, never played RE.
Ergh. Time to get serious. Should I try to beat PCB or IN first?

I do have issues with overestimating and underestimating my hitboxes. I switch between being paranoid of being touched at all and feeling as though I can just hover around and let shit fly through any part of me.
If someone wants to accuse us of eating coconut shells, then that's their business. We know what we're doing. - Achaan ChahIN. PCB's harder. Well, I find it harder. PCB's slightly prettier, though.
I'm not quite sure why I think that.
Play Again? Y/NThat's actually what I was thinking. Also, I like IN's characters a lot. The backstory and everything is very cool.
ARGH WTF IS THIS SHIT
HOW ARE YOU SUPPOSED TO DODGE THAT SHIT
WHAT
BAD ENDING
WHAT
ARGH
I CONTINUED LIKE FIVE OR SIX TIMES
HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO DO THAT WITHOUT DYING
ATPGBAHTIPJIFAOJFEIOADJEIADHNIWBHGIUBGHADI
whew okay enough of that for now I think. Seriously though, Keine totally destroyed me, and past that point I was dying and bombing left and right. That. Was horrible.

There's a kind of trick with Keine. First, make sure you don't focus too much during that stage. If you do, for some reason, her patterns come thicker and faster.
Also, move from one side of the screen to the other in a gradual upwards fashion. Generally speaking, if there's an opening, it happens to the side.
Play Again? Y/N
^^ Wouldn't that just be a generic shmup?
