I dunno. Without knowing everything that's going on behind the scenes, I think it's hard to make a call. I understand that this is a highly-anticipated game and thus people are bound to speculate (heck, I want it as badly as anybody), but I think drawing conclusions like that is a bit much from just one interview.
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaYep, I honestly have VERY little hope for this game at this point.
From people who actually had some hands-on time with it, it was reportedly a piece of shit. So, it's better for it to have just been cancelled.
Jonah FalconSony is saying it's still in development:

I've seen a number of articles saying not to panic over this, since it's happened before with other games.
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaI specifically remember Final Fantasy Versus XIII used as an example.

i. hear. a. sound.I'm going to mark this down as "cancelled" until I actually witness any new footage because I feel rather trolled at this point. -__-"
But please, let this be released, it's not like these kind of games are a dime a dozen.
Some people had hands-on time with it? I'm not even sure it is in any state to be playable at all, considering the lack of info… like everyone, I'll consider it cancel until we are sure it's not.

But then again, despite also having a painfully long development cycle, that game didn't nearly have as much problems during its production like this one.

And Sony is repeatedly telling people not to panic now, the game is still coming.
Yay! (And no one will harsh my mellow about this.)
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaSo apparently the game was playable, which made Sony a bit too eager and started discussing release-dates, then some technical problems became apparent that required "the engineering team to go back and re-do some of the work they had done" but the game is still alive.
So there's hope, I guess.

I fear the Duke Nukem Forever syndrome should this game ever come out… a game that stayed in the Development Hell for too long can get out of it in an ugly state… now I know this is not Duke Nukem we're talking about, but I'm worried.

And now Kenji Kaido leaves for vacation and says he doesn't know what his plans are for the future. Yikes.
Jonah FalconStill no need to panic. I'm sure that Sony will pull some executive shenanigans and get someone else to finish the game (or rush what they already have out the front door) if they have the slightest inkling that he's bailing on them.
I think it's the perfect time to panic, since the build more or less sucks.
Jonah FalconThread resurrection, because apparently things are stirring! OK, so Ueda stresses that TLG is "still under his creative supervision", but that "details regarding The Last Guardian's release is solely decided by Sony Computer Entertainment", IGN theorizing that the whole title is moved to the PS 4. Could it be?
Seeing as Mirror's Edge 2, Star Wars Battlefront 3, Final Fantasy XV, and Kingdom Hearts III got to finally shine this E3, I thought we may finally see some info on this game.
Seriously, how many times has it been put on hiatus at this point?
Normally I'd agree with you on that, but given how long this game has been delayed it's starting to seem like the only logical conlusion. I get that the guy wants get the whole theme and feeling of the game nailed down, but this is taking way too long.
