Duh! How'd I miss that one?
And on that note, Izuka and Captain Jack.
The pig of Hufflepuff pulsed like a large bullfrog. Dumbledore smiled at it, and placed his hand on its head: "You are Hagrid now."Yeah, Quantum Devil Saga being a thing that has been translated is a thing we knew was coming for quite some time.
And now it's here! Everyone go buy it.
Don't PM me. We don't like being PMed.They're translating novels? A sign of increased interest in the franchise in the West? I hope so.
The pig of Hufflepuff pulsed like a large bullfrog. Dumbledore smiled at it, and placed his hand on its head: "You are Hagrid now."So while Soul Hackers is cheap from the online store based in England I buy games from sometimes, I decided to buy it. Saved $13-14 buying it now. Fun times when it finally arrives.
“I was thinking that work is like fertilizer in that I’m glad it exists; I just don’t ever want to get stuck in it."So far, just the first volume of QDS has been translated (past tense. It's finished and out now!) but if the rest of them (or even other SMT literature) gets brought over depends on if this does well.
Gotta show that there is a market!
Don't PM me. We don't like being PMed.With both DDS 1 and 2 fresh in my mind, I would be quite interested in picking it up provided it gets released in Canada also, lol. Here's hoping.
The art style in which the characters are designed, however, both intrigues me yet turns me off to reading them.
"And I just want to sink into your crazy laughter. Come and make me feel like the pain don't matter."despite the name, im fairly sure the novels have nothing to do with the dds games.
unless im thinking of different novels.
From my understanding of QDS on the Mega Ten Wiki, it's still DDS 1, but done differently. It was done by the guy who was originally supposed to do DDS 1, so I'm thinking it's more of a "what if?" thing, or an alternate continuity/universe.
I'd still like to read it, though.
"And I just want to sink into your crazy laughter. Come and make me feel like the pain don't matter."ah. so i was thinking of the wrong novels.
also wow cielo looks really feminine in those books. and argilla's hair is rebelling.
It's still Digital Devil Saga.
You're thinking of the extremely similarly-named Digital Devil Story novels that were adapted into the original Megami Tensei game and spiraled out of control from there.
I sure said that!Pretty sure Yu Godai is a girl.
Anywho, QDS is kinda weird, since it isn't so much an adaptation of the games as it is a novel built from her original concept for the games.
It's like, Godai was brought in to write the scenario for the games, from this we have what I will refer to from here as the "base scenario". Godai had to leave the project shortly after this due to health reasons, and the base scenario was fleshed out into a full game scenario and script by Tadashi Satomi (you might recognize him as the guy who wrote the first two Persona games). However, part of Godai's contract was that she had the exclusive novel rights to DDSaga, and here, years later, she writes and releases QDS, which is less a novelizatiation of the final game and more of a fleshing out of her take on her base scenerio.
So, to sum up: Godai's base scenario + Satomi's fleshing out into game = Digital Devil Saga. Godai's base scenario + Godai's fleshing out into novel = Quantum Devil Saga. That's how I figure it anyway.
Don't PM me. We don't like being PMed.Just started Sector Eridanus. Also finally read lore on Mastema. I now know why so many of you think he's proto-Satan.
If you meet me have some courtesy, have some sympathy, have some taste. Use all your well-learned politesse or I'll lay your soul to waste.Has anyone ever seen Satan and Mastema in the same room together? Hmmmm?
well.
maybe in fexsmt?
man what is going on with that game.
It's still "on schedule"!
I hope...
For Those who Seek the Thrill of Death: A Dramatic SMT3 Hard PlaythroughSorry for the double post, but I was looking through the YMMV tab for the entire franchise, specifically under The Scrappy. I know law gets a lot more hate than other alignments, but I thought Amane was an exception to the rule? Being that she goes against the usual holier-than-thou archetype most law people have.
For Those who Seek the Thrill of Death: A Dramatic SMT3 Hard Playthroughim...confused as well.
i think naoya is just getting draco in leather pants treatment and, as his direct opposite, amane is getting the backlash.
because that aside, shes nowhere near the level of say...ronaldo or the nocturne guys. the closest thing i can think of is remiel being the hated one, but even then she's probably the nicest arch angel we've seen, even in spite of the "dudes its totes your fault, just sayin" thing
I personally like Naoya's route because it ends in the Protagonist becoming the Overlord. Naoya's got a cool design and I like that despite his many many flaws, he genuinely cares for the protagonist and isn't just using him for his goals. Plus in a way, he's a Jerkass Woobie due to revelations brought about by Devil Survivor Overclocked. Not a very sympathetic one, nor does it justify some of his actions, but still.
“I was thinking that work is like fertilizer in that I’m glad it exists; I just don’t ever want to get stuck in it."Speaking of the Law faction being the Scrappy faction, here's a pretty awesome defense of Zelenin that I found on tumblr. This is pretty much how I've always interpreted her, too.
The pig of Hufflepuff pulsed like a large bullfrog. Dumbledore smiled at it, and placed his hand on its head: "You are Hagrid now."Wait, people give Zelenin a hard time? I've so far thought pretty much the same thing regarding her. I already know Mastema is am untrustworthy dick, but there's so far been no actual reason to do so.
If you meet me have some courtesy, have some sympathy, have some taste. Use all your well-learned politesse or I'll lay your soul to waste.Yeah, she gets crap for treating Jimenez badly and always voting for demon-free solutions to the Team's problems. But really, did you see what she went through?
The pig of Hufflepuff pulsed like a large bullfrog. Dumbledore smiled at it, and placed his hand on its head: "You are Hagrid now."I definitely see Zelenin as a tragic figure, especially in comparison to Jimenez, who was supposed to be your best buddy but always just came off as a bit of an asshole to me.
I sure said that!I like Jimenez but he's pretty grating for the first mission and a half.
Jonathan, on the other hand...
The pig of Hufflepuff pulsed like a large bullfrog. Dumbledore smiled at it, and placed his hand on its head: "You are Hagrid now."
Ashnard and Louis would get along swimmingly.
Don't PM me. We don't like being PMed.
