Dis Baba extended one of his arms, morphing it into a fifteen-foot-long, segmented tendril of chitin and barbs. He stood next to Jack, taking up a position in the circle, and scanned the fog for any attackers that might try to lunge at the group before they were ready.

mordecai quickly joined the circle, pulling out his assualt shotgun and faced the shadows. After lining up his shot he called, "I have 'nades if anyone needs some light."

Lux wordlessly moved to the other side of Dis Baba and activated her lightstaff, the orange-gold blade doing little to illuminate the dense fog.

Rey chewed his lip, moving backwards as well, keeping his head on a swivel, trying to figure out from where the danger would come.

The creatures moved towards the group, coming into view. From what everyone could tell of they, they were black goo with blue masks serving as their heads. They looked at the champions before they started to shake and change. Some lifted up into the air and curled into a ball, changing into a multicolor floating orb with a huge mouth and large tongue. Others changed into tables with floating utensils flying about above them. The remaining few changed into giant gloves with heads coming out of the wrists.

—Saren retreated with the rest of them, unlatching his scimitar and priming the gunarm. His visor continued to fluctuate green. —

Permission to strafe, "Miss Detective"?

Spriggan moved with his back facing the others, shouldering the K3 light machine gun. He took aim with the iron sights at the nearest shadow.

"Oh this is absolutely insanely creepy." Rey raised his hands, but hesitated...not entirely sure what would happen if he tried to shoot shadow at shadow.

Kimimaro joined the defensive circle and readied five bone-bullets in his left fingers, placing his left bone-sword in his belt, and pointing his left hand at the creatures in front of him.

Gordon cocked his shotgun, aiming at the creatures. "The hell are these things?"

Blink had much the same thing on her mind. "Umm... Huh?"

Raz eyed the monsters, steeling himself for their attack.

Dis Baba eyed the creatures with a frown. "Shapeshifters, then?" he inquired, readying his tentacle whip.

Dex-Starr narrowed his eyes at the strange creatures, straightening up and hissing at them.

Come on.

Spriggan kept his aim at the incoming Shadows.

Jack merely adjusted his stance slightly, the warrior's mask he wore betraying nothing of his thoughts. The snatches of shadow were dangerous. How would they attack? How many were they? Would they keep coming? Who was most vulnerable? Questions like these skittered about the forefront of his mind, while elsewhere, he concentrated on releasing his revulsion and anger. A flicker of light ran down the blade of his weapon, the god-touched metal seeming to gleam a little brighter at the approach of enemies.

"We must move, now!" he said, and began taking long, slow steps backwards, trusting to the others in the circle to move with him. "Naoto, which way?"

-The Dullahan raises his sword, crackling with barely-contained lightning. Isaac forms a tornado, pulling in the surrounding mist to get a better view.-

Kimimaro moved with Jack, his head on a swivel.

Such fascinating creatures... we should try to bring one back with us to study.

Mordecai began laughing, finally! Something to kill! With savage glee imprinted onto his smile he whipped out a grenade from the SD on his belt and pressed the button on it, held it out infront of him and aimed it at the largest group of shadows he could see. The grenade left his hand, and then vanished in a small ball of light. Reappearing with a 1.5 second fuse, embedded at the ground by his targets.

"Boom," he chuckled savagely.

Vezon idly whistled as he yanked on a giant tongue and held his spear toward the oncoming shadow.

Spriggan took aim at the nearest Shadow, slowly about to pull the LMG's trigger.

Hm... seems to be missing something... Ah!

Narumi began to shoot at the shadows.

The shadows took the hits that were aimed at them, most of the surviving. The ones that did die, like the one Vezon attacked, burst into black and red smoke before that too vanished. The Shadows started to attack back. Some of the gloves and the floating mouth balls moved towards the champions and tried to hit them with hands/tongues. Others shot out balls of fire, lightning bolts, and compressed winds. Most of the attacks seemed to be focused on Naoto though who was doing her best to dodge.

Raz ducked and weaved out of the way of the attacks. He tossed a confusion grenade in the midst of the monsters.

Blink wasn't too much use in this fight. Instead, she stayed close to Naoto, ready to teleport her if the need be.

Gordon fired his shotgun at a shadow, ejected the shells, and fired again with little pause.
