A Game of Gods: A Multiversal Challenge

Mordecai landed on the roughly, oddly decorated ground. Seeing that there was nothing to kill, and seeing how there was not much to see due to the fog, he decided to wait for the others to land and follow their example. Let them teach him how to play...however it was best to go armed. With barely a thought, he brought out his bladed revolver. It would work at any range...and the bite of the blade would help in close range combat.

Rey grunted as he found himself falling, but managed to twist himself in the air so that he would land with a perfect bump, though it still hurt like hell. He sat up as quickly as he could, flicking his visor up to look around. "Naoto...Naoto! Guys, do you see her??"

"Nah Rey. I can hardly see anything around here."

Spriggan shouldered his K3. "And I doubt it'll go away really soon."

Spriggan would find Lux not far away from him, lying on her back and trying to breathe; the fall had knocked the wind out of her though her light armor protected her from any lasting damage.

"I...I'm right here Rey." Naoto said as she walked into view. She was wearing a pair of glasses that she'd never put on before and looked honestly afraid for once. She rubbed her forehead and said "Damn it. I didn't want to get all of you wrapped up in this. Damn it!"

Raz raised a brow. "Wrapped up in what? Where are we?"

"Strange," Dis Baba mused from somewhere to Rey's right. "This fog is hardly the thickest I have ever encountered; I should be able to pierce its depths with little difficulty, and yet for some reason I cannot."

The alien cast a glance upward. "Is this some inherent property of this strange realm, or is it yet more of our captors' tampering?"

Mordecai chuckled and commented, "I've been needing a good fight...I'd have jumped in no matter what." This was when he felt alive!

Kimimaro walked over, laying a hand on Naoto's shoulder.

"Calm down, Naoto-san. Deep breaths. Please try not to work yourself up too much; panic can be fatal in situations like this. Now... please, once you've gotten hold of yourself, tell us all what's going on here."

Spriggan went to see Lux, placing the K3 aside when he tried to help her.

"You all right?"

—Saren landed with a metallic clank, then looked around, his visor fluctuating green.—

Rey moved forward, looking her over, then nodded slightly. "Glad you're all right. Where are we?"

"Miss Shirogane!"

Blink teleported to her side. "Are you okay? What happened? Where are we?"

Gordon looked around at the fog. "Fog. Great. Reminds me of that one horror game."

"This is...a world that we've found in mine. Me and a few others like me. This place is home to many creatures that hate people. When the fog lifts on this side and sets in my world, anyone that is still here....will die." Naoto explains.

Spriggan heard what Naoto had mentioned.

Dammit! Just what we need...

"That... sounds bad." He looked left, then right. "What's this place called?"

Lux was somewhat worried, but was familiar with the sensation. While her baser instincts had her mildly panicked, she tried to signal to Spriggan she would be fine. She rolled onto her side and pushed herself onto her hands and knees. Her head lifted up at the words 'will die'.

Jack gave a brief smile to Naoto.

"I could not have done otherwise than followed," he said. "Do not blame yourself." Looking around at the world, he nodded gravely after the explanation.

"Then we must not be here when the fog lifts. How do we escape?"

"Just another day," Mordecai chuckled, though he was dismayed at a foe he could not kill. Still, as long as he could kill something he was happy.

Spriggan went to help her sit up.

"Take it slow Luxanna. I found you almost unconscious."

Rey blew out a breath, glancing around. "So what do we need to do to get out of here?"

"Well this world was only discovered because of an urban myth in a small town so we've named it after the myth. We call this place the Midnight Channel. As for leaving...that will be hard. The only reason my group was able to in the first place is because there is one benevolent being in this world that we've befriended. He helps us leave this world for the real one. Either we have to find him, which will be hard since he is currently living in the real world, or we find the area where he left the exit." Naoto explained, pacing a bit.

"I understand. Do you know how we can find the exit, then?"

"I believe I shall paraphrase Kakashi Hatake: those who abandon their missions are scum, but those who abandon their comrades are lower than scum. We shall get through this as a team."

He readied a bone-sword, listening carefully for any signs of attackers. Eerie silence greeted him.

After Naoto's explanation, he said "Our safest bet would likely be the latter option."

"What about coperal threats, anything other than deathfog?" Mordecai asked...more than a little interested at a chance to kill something, anything.
