A Game of Gods: A Multiversal Challenge

Rey stepped up to the TV, hesitating, then reaching out to try and touch it. "It...seems like a portal..."

"No wonder." Spriggan sighed. "Dex probably came in here moment the doors to the VR simulator were closed. "And it seems we're having another challenge."

He walked to the armory. "May as well get in. Can't participate in it without some gear."

"Wait! Do not touch it!" Jack exclaimed. "You do not know what it will do."

—The sleeping face of PHANTOM materialised above the projector, looking sullen even as it slumbered.—

Success. Doctor Freeman.

"Greetings PHANTOM. So you're back."

Spriggan eyed the AI, about to open the door to the armory.

"Don't worry about it, Jack. I think it's just a challenge portal." Rey stepped back, then reached up to flip down the visor on his helmet. "We should just go and get this over with."

when Rey touched the TV it was completely solid, like a TV should be. Naoto blinked before her eyes widened in realization. "No....no no no!" She stepped back away from the TV. When she tried to get away the ground actually rose up like it was alive. It grabbed her and started to drag her back. The ground whipped around and threw her at the TV. It looked like she would it hit, but the moment she touched the TV screen it changed. It became oscillating black and white circles as Naoto sank inside of it. She only managed to let out a scream before her voice sounded like it got too far away.

"Naoto!" Rey rushed forward, immediately jumping in after her.

—Holographic red optics dully look down on Spriggan, the lids barely lifted. In a tired, monotone voice, PHANTOM speaks.—

— Yeess. Greetings, operative Spriggan. What task would you have me perform?—

Jack's expression turned from apprehension to determination in that instant.

"You will not harm that girl," he said, knowing the Nomads were listening, and followed after Rey.

Raz looked on in shock before sighing and hurling himself at the TV.

Mordecai was moving before he understood what was going on. Maybe it was the scream, maybe it was some long lost desire to be the hero, maybe he just wanted to fight, or maybe he really still cared about other people. No matter what it was, he was up and running at the TV before thoughts registered. He was a sniper, he should be in the back...but he could fight at the front too...and he needed a fight. He ran for the TV and leaped at it.

—Saren looked ceilingward, snarling something obscene in Palavennic regarding the Nomad's parentage, then stalking his way into the television.—

"Oh, dear. I suppose we shall have to rescue Naoto of Shirogane, then..."

And with those words, Dis Baba strode up to the television set and pulled himself into its depths. Ravage growled, and was about to leave the matter to the others and return to his own chambers when something vile and hideous flashed through his mind, something that inspired in him intense sensations of revulsion and fear. He could not see what it was, but if filled his Spark with a nameless terror, and it seemed that it might—no, it must—have originated from his room.

Desperate to get away from this sudden nightmare, the transmetal panther let out a yowl and sprinted towards the TV, leaping into the screen portal in a blind panic.

"Keep an eye on this place. I'm going in there to save Naoto with the others!"

Spriggan told PHANTOM, pointing to the TV where everyone's starting to go. He proceeded to go in to the armory, wearing a LMG-based tac vest to start with.

Kimimaro leapt through the portal, driven by a newfound desire to help the terrified member of his new Nakama-in-the-making.

—The corners of the projection's lips quirked upward on the instant of Ravage's yowl, then subsequently drooped.—

—Very well.—

Spriggan emerged out of the armory, armed with a Daewoo K3 light machine gun with his Caracal F strapped on his left leg. He ran to the portal.

But before he got in, he turned around and frowned at PHANTOM.

"And don't do anything funny or stupid ya hear me?"

He leaped inside the TV portal.

Lux sighed, coming out of her musings on the world she left behind, and followed the others. Her thoughts had been turning darker, maybe this challenge could cheer her up

—Absolutely not, operative Spriggan.—

—Yet again, the corners of the projected mouth twitched.—

—Absolutely not.—

Dex-Starr ducked his head when Naoto was suddenly tossed into the TV by some strange force, followed by everyone else jumping in. The cat decided to jump in as well.

"Miss Shirogane!"

In a panic, Blink ran into the TV after the girl detective. Gordon stood up, pulled out his shotgun, and sprinted in after them.

What happened next could only be described as weird. When everyone jumped in they would find that they have started to fall. They fell for quite a while before they made rough contact with the ground. The more conscious champions would notice that the ground was a bunch of black and white circles with the outlines of human bodies on the floor. The area around them was very hard to see through as it was full of a yellowish-greenish fog.

"I can hardly see anything around here."

Spriggan muttered, wondering if he was next to somebody familiar.

Well Luxanna came to mind. Only because he had meant to talk to her before the TGS agent went to train himself on the simulator.

Raz picked himself up off the ground and looked around. "Oh boy. This is gonna' be one of those 'face your worst fear' things, isn't it?"
