Bioshock starts out awesome, and with the exception of a spike in quality for Fort Frolic, slowly becomes less awesome with every passing area until the end. The game has two problems: Resources are not in short enough supply to make the game's depth meaningful (you can craft ammo, buy ammo, balance guns and plasmids, use more/less expensive resources on a given encounter, approach a challenge from a number of angles—except that at any given point after the first level you're likely to have your money, your first aid kits, your eve hypos and two-thirds of your ammo types maxed at all times, and be able to refill any as soon as you use some, so there's no pressure to do well), and the game designers run out of ideas after a while and start making things "harder" by just giving scaling up the enemies to have a crap-ton of health so that only your strongest weapons can hurt guys who look identical to the ones you could originally off with a couple rounds from the pistol. Still, Medical Pavilion and Fort Frolic are worth the price of admission by themselves.
Agreed, Fort Frolic is probably the best part of the game. I sort of enjoyed Arcadia, though.
You can't even write racist abuse in excrement on somebody's car without the politically correct brigade jumping down your throat!Anyone seen the viral site? Has anyone solved any of the puzzles also, I LOVE the visauls, Especialy when you can see other buildings in the walkways and windows.
Life's Gonna Suck When You Grow Up... But Is It That Great Now?... Also I'm Skylark2 now.Doesn't live up to what it's a spiritual successor for. Vita-chambers and no real difficulty makes it real disappointing to me.
Sorry for the necro, but I just finished Bioshock last night.
I pretty much agree with the above posters. I think the game may have been better if it ended after Ryan's Control Booth. The last third just repeats the same enemies as earlier except with more health. Also, it just starts throwing in gimmicks to keeps things interesting, like the escort mission and the random plasmid switching. Although, if it ended early, it would have been a lot more depressing.
As for the difficulty, I guess this is my fault for playing on Easy, but the only time I died was on my first big daddy. For the most part, it's ridiculously easy to keep money, first aid, and hypnos maxed out. Also, I had tons of unused Adam by the end. It seems like the only plasmids that are actually useful are the three elemental ones.
It's still a great game though.

Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlaySo I bought this from Steam's Halloween sale for 5 euro.
I hope it works on my computer...(woot! Now I can comment on this series xD)
I played Bioshock for te first time a while ago, and I've been playing it several times with gusto. It is so AWESOME.
I didn't really understand the political undertones without wikipedia, but it was fun setting people on fire.
Also? Two big daddy's fighting.
Inspirational quote against powerful image of nature.I think it's pretty hard. That might only be because I'm playing on the highest difficulty :/
Underneath the bridge The tarp has sprung a leak And the animals I've trapped have all become my petsWith or without the Vita-Chambers?

Underneath the bridge The tarp has sprung a leak And the animals I've trapped have all become my petsSpeaking of difficulty, what is with the Complacent Gaming Syndrome entry in the main wiki? When you play on hard, it is almost hardcore since you use up almost half your EVE to use a plasmid.
Who is complaining it is too easy?
Inspirational quote against powerful image of nature.I don't get the "it's too easy" complaints really since I suck ass monkeys at FP Ses and generally find them boring. The vita chambers are happy and welcome things for me. Then again I am not as interested in the actual gameplay as I am the setting and finding tape recorders.

If someone wants to accuse us of eating coconut shells, then that's their business. We know what we're doing. - Achaan ChahYou know how some people believe that the only way a game is enjoyable is if it is Nintendo Hard.
anyway I found the difficulty alright...alhough I'm bad with FPS and I played in the Highest difficulty
pretty much that

It's not exactly naive. And it can happen. But it's tough. And definetly worthwhile.I'm a Nintendo Hard sort of person for platformers and shmups. JRP Gs too but a good hard JRPG is hard to come by. Not so with most other genres and certainly not FPS. Then again FPS ain't really my thing so...

Fight. Struggle. Endure. Suffer. LIVE.Does anyone get annoyed at how loud Bioshock can get? If I've got a turret, or a couple of flying machines, (on either side), or I'm wailing on a Big Daddy, everything gets so loud. Just turns into an annoying aural cacophany of speaker smush.

This post has been powered by avenging fury and a balanced diet.I like the loud; it kinda helps with the immersion.
Of course, I still wouldn't suggest putting your ears too close to the speakers...
Fight. Struggle. Endure. Suffer. LIVE.When I play Bio Shock, all I can think about is how much better System Shock 2 is and how badly this game failed to deliver on its promise of being a spiritual sequel. They wasted a good setting and cool villain on a mediocre game.
Anyone else think that Bioshock 2 is better than 1? I'm only a third of the way through, but the characters seem far more developed*, and the levels, on the whole are more nicely designed than say, the Farmer's Market, or Apollo Towers.
- Not that the first game had bad character developement, just that it was limited to a bare handful of people.
That said, it's becoming slightly more obvious that there was some late game tinkering going on behind the scenes — one or two of Tennebaum's lines seem to have come from an earlier cut.
This post has been powered by avenging fury and a balanced diet.Since the game is a prequel of thoughts (Or a sequel, the wiki is confusing on this point), maybe these lines were planned for Tenebaum in Bioshock 1?
And hey, Farmer's market was small but the bee keeper's part of it was great to play.

- -SPLICERS HOLY CRAP-
- -hurry hurry hurry pull lever again-

Inspirational quote against powerful image of nature. It's a sequel. The Big Bad of 2 was able to come into a position of power because of the deaths of Andrew Ryan and Atlas. She took advantage of the chaos and confusion in their wake.
At least, that's how I understand it.
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.What puzzles me is why anyone would want to "take power" in Rapture after so many years. The place is a hellhole filled with evil mutants and it's only a matter of time until it literally implodes.
Well if you have any opinions or complaints that don't fit into JBM voice them here
