Mostly because the kids in cereal commercials are dicks towards the mascots, so you feel sorry for them.

But it's not like you really see Ronald all that much to begin with in this era. Mc Donalds ads seem to just focus on typical "people having a good time" commercials.

Ronald back in his heyday was more acceptable as clowns were more acceptable back then as was the men moonlighting as the mascots.

Nowadays he is just kind of known for being a creepy clown.

http://www.cracked.com/blog/the-15-best-situations-to-just-rip-your-face-clean-off/ Sometimes I think if your stuff is socially charged enough Cracked'll just let quality slide .

As someone of mixed-race who gets that question often enough, I was actually looking forward to that article.

... it sucked. Like, impressively so.

http://www.cracked.com/blog/we-just-realized-trump-doesnt-know-what-condolences-means/

... okay, I know I don't want to talk about Trump and I'm as frustrated with Cracked's ongoing "WE CAN DO POLITICAL SATIRE TOO, GUYS" but I had to mention this.

Good freaking lord. Though a comment was what really made me think: "What gets me is that he said he respected her for not f*****g him, because she was married. Which implies a) Donald Trump thinks he's irresistible enough that most married women would cheat on their husbands to get some of that sweet orange ass, and b) if a woman isn't married, then Donald Trump will not respect her if she turns him down."

That's his views on women in a nutshell. The only reason for a woman to not have sex with a guy is because she's loyal to another guy. Period.

Although, is that low opinion of women or of people?

See, I always wondered if blatant misogyny actually comes from a held philosophy of misogyny or one of narcissism with a side order of "And I happen to be a heterosexual male."

I think with Trump narcissism is a good place to start.

I don't know if 'held philosophy' is a good way of phrasing it, because I suspect it's more rooted in him just never really questioning the views that growing up rich in the 50s and 60s landed him with.

That's a point. Bigotry a majority of the time isn't of the "gosh golly, I sure do feel like oppressing some minorities today!". Just passive, unquestioned assumptions that color your thoughts and actions subtly, so that far enough down the line treating those different than you like shit is just... the way things are.

Of course they bring up the "Gosh, Nintendo is crazy. Why would they make a controller with three handles? We only have two hands!" Which is as dumb as saying "why do they make a system with six buttons? I only have two thumbs!"

There are games that use the D-Pad. There are games that use the analog stick. I've never once played an N64 game where you had to switch between the two. Maybe they exist, but that's on the developers for a shitty control layout, not the system.

It's head to a brick wall level stupid stuff like this that make it hard to take any of their articles seriously.

It's like if a chef makes good sandwiches but then 10 per cent of them have rat droppings in them.

You'd think Number 9 would be a good thing. Apparently not to some ignorant Americans such as the people on Cracked.

Wong's article on how media affects men's views of sexual consent was damn good.

[up]This one?

http://www.cracked.com/blog/how-men-are-trained-to-think-sexual-assault-no-big-deal/

I wouldn't really know, seeing as how I went to catholic schools in Scotland throughout the Seventies and Eighties, and all I ever got taught about sex was "don't do it before marriage or you're going to go to hell." And that's not too great an exaggeration for effect, I can assure you. Sex, consensual or otherwise, was a mortal sin unless you were hitched.

Everything I learned about sexual consent was after school finished. I think Wong covers most of the bases though.

[up]That article was really good, if a bit disturbing to me as I was reminded of sexual assaults that occured with me and how back then it didn't strike me just how wrong that was (because I was a guy and I never thought myself as attractive).

I went to Catholic school myself. Untraining some of the things I was taught has been an ordeal.

I wasn't even raised religiously in anyway and I have mother that highly emphasizes respect towards women and even then I still made mistakes in that regard (albeit nowhere near close of sexual assault and rape).

I also think my issue was that I always was under the understanding when I was a younger pre-teen and teenager that my worth was related to getting into relationships and having sex. So therefor due to how I could never seem to get a relationship and was repeatedly disturbed via the cat calls, groping, and lewd comments made towards me but for the wrong reason. I thought there was something wrong with me for being disturbed and being unnerved from those gals. Hell other guys kept saying that they would love to be in my position.

It just didn't quite hit me until now just how fucking bad and concerning that behavior was. It's very unsettling to know that with that attitude that I could of very easily gotten raped by a girl or a guy.

Hell I didn't even realize that what I experienced could be considered sexual assault. I always thought it was just sexual harassment or pranks made to severely embarrass me (Because no one would think I was just physically attractive enough for that huh?)
