[up]No. Disliking something because of people who like it is, was and always will be a stupid reason to dislike something.

Not really. Fan Dumb will do that to you. I mean sure, it should be those particular fans you just want to avoid, but it's hard not to resent the show for it's more rabid fans. Especially when it's all over the fucking place anyway.

[up] So much truth.

[up]You know, Homestuck fans have started throwing buckets at people. Metal buckets.

Any intelligent, rational person should be able to recognize this for an emotional knee-jerk reaction, think to themselves "Huh. I'm being completely ridiculous." and judge works by their own merits.

No? What I said was "It's unintelligent and irrational to let Fan Dumb affect your judgement of anything."

That's genuinely good advice. No sarcasm necessary.

No, that's implying those who do let the Fan Dumb turn them off a show/medium/whathaveyou are unintelligent. That's just blatantly offensive.

Plus the Fan Dumb of a show is by definition the Vocal Minority. Hating MLP or even the MLP fanbase in general because of the loudest fans isn't giving either a fair shot.

It's not fair to the fans, but it's bound to happen to some people. I have nothing against the general fanbase of MLP but even outside of the Fan Dumb people shill it far too much and that has made me sick of seeing it.

I love John Cheese's articles. He's like... it's hard to explain. He's had a hard life, and there is a lot of wisdom in his pieces. He also writes about topics that I relate to. I wouldn't say he's a mediocre humorist; some of the more lighthearted (and sweary) captions in his pieces make me laugh.

It is stupid to judge something by it's fans. That does not make you stupid, you are just doing a dumb thing as you cannot get past the fans to judge the thing more fairly. I ignore most fans of stuff and just enjoy it. Like I like MLP but do I care/listen to other fans. No. I love Homestuck, and I only care about the saner ones.

I loved today's Qucik Fixes thing with Adam Vs. Gladstone.

I'm not saying MLP sucks because of the rabid fans, I'm saying I'm turned off it by the fans. I don't see how that's stupid, given that I don't have an obligation to get into it in the first place.

It's stupid because you aren't giving it a fair shot. If you watched it and siliked it and didn't want anything to do with it because of that that's fine, but to not even give something a try because of hype back;ash or fan dumb is stupid. That does not make you stupid as even smart people make stupid mistakes.

No, it's not stupid. As I said, I don't have to give watching the show a try. I have no interest in doing so, so why the fuck would I? That would be stupid.

Deadpoolrocks Since: Sep, 2010

Not doing so because you have no interest is a good reason. Not doing so just because some of the fans are crazy is a bad reason. Like you think something is cool but avoid it because of the fans.

I think avoiding a certain work just because of the fandumb is not entirely fair, but everyone is entitled to watch or not watch whatever they want to, regardless of their reasons for doing so.

You know, this article makes the setting of LOST seem interesting.

Unfortunately I know from experience the show itself is far too obtuse about giving these answers, and the format of a seasonal show with no defined ending is detrimental to the story.

So... Anyone care to commend on the accuracy of these answers or how well they work?

The latest Cheese article has a lot of hate in the comments section. Did I miss something? Why do I even read comments on the net? They're so negative.

[up]It seems to be really bad in Cheese's, Christina H's, and more rarely, Seanbaby's articles. Oh, well, I care more about the actual writers than the comments.
