... whoever fired that zap had better hope it was fatal, because if it wasn't, it will be once Alexsi gets back up. Hyperspace Mallet to the face, anyone?

Come to think of it, I can't think of many characters in the strip that it would be stupider to attack than Alexsi. You'd very quickly get people involved that, if things went wahoonie-shaped badly enough, could end up with enough firepower to turn a mid-sized continent into a smoking glass crater landing on your head in a startlingly short time.

Lesse... for the immediate, there's the Lost Lake crew, with Abel, Wildy, Jyrras, and M.A.C.E. (and Deathbringer/Deebs, I guess...) in the immediate area, and Pyroduck, Mab and Pip soon to be back on the scene. That right there is enough to depopulate a small city. Dan and Lorenda are likely to show up as fast as they're able, and if Merlitz is near enough to civilization to get word, he's likely to show up as well. Matilda might also show up to help out. Having any one of these people angry with you would very likely not end well. Having all of them angry with you is more on the level of a personal-scale apocalypse.

Assuming you are powerful enough and/or stupid enough to fight all this off (assuming you kill some/most of them), you'll end up with Biggs and the Twink Territories, Dan and Alexsi's parents (Destania and Edward), Kria, maybe Aaryanna, and possibly even Dark Pegasus and/or Fa'Lina landing on you.

I'm... not sure how many characters, if any (aside from possibly some of the Fae?) could survive that.

Highly-Visible Ninja EDIT- And if anything did survive all that, they'd probably get sued into oblivion by Jyrras' mom tongue

I think you're over calculating who would be involved in favor a full cast smack down. Realistically we know Jyraas and Wildy are loyal friends, Abel has several motives up to and including saving his employer, fearing the wrath of Pyroduck or Dan, or even actually starting to like her. Destania and Ed would possibly be involved if we could ever find them. Mab obviously because she loves everyone. Upon hearing something has happned, Dan wouldn't hesitate to jump into action. Lorenda might get involved though I'm not sure if she has any interest in question or big action sans self-defense. And... What does Matilda do exactly? I positively love her but the story doesn't seem to.

Fa'Lina, Biggs, Aryanna, and Kria seem like the types who would have better things to do but would cheerily wish the main cast luck and then possibly enact divine retribution at the very end.

Merlitz is further removed from the cast than Dan and Alexsi's parents are so he's out.

If they were in desperate need of an army for whatever reason I'm sure it probably wouldn't be too much trouble if they got Azlan or that Phoenix chick or something.

Mmph. Apparently my logic wasn't as obvious as I assumed when making that post.

You agreed that Wildy getting involved was pretty much a given; if she got taken out, her brother Biggs is not going to be happy with the being/creature that managed that. And Biggs has never been long on 'subtle', thus my assumption that he would simply bring the full firepower of the Twink Territories down on the offender. And that's assuming that Destania doesn't call in a favour from her (former?) boss to do that anyway.

Lorenda's never shown much of an inclination towards big action, true, but that girl's got a vicious temper, especially when one or more of her friends are in danger- and while she might not have as much of a connection to Alexsi as some of the others, she does have a close connection to Jyrras, and he's likely to get involved with both fists (and at least one giant mech). And if she does get involved, and then gets hurt- Kria will end the one who did it. Even Dark Pegasus might be moved to avenge her, depending on where in his own plans he is and how much of his 'Uncle Aliph' soul/persona is left.

Aaryanna's involvement is kinda dependent on (in descending order) Destania/Merlitz/Abel's involvement; if any of them got hurt and she found out about it, she'd likely turn up with vengeance on her tiny mind (Destania being her mentor, Merlitz being her ex with whom she parted on good terms as far as we know, and Abel seeming to be her best frenemy).

Fa'lina would likely get involved if Dan, Abel and Destania all got themselves killed; she doesn't seem that she'd take too kindly to that sort of thing, particularly since Dan and Destania seem to be the last representatives of Clan Cyra aside from Cyra herself (speaking of which, big gramma would be rather unhappy with you murdering her last descendants...).

And Matilda? We do know she's rather dangerous in her own right, given that she got kicked out of her clan for ripping her brother's arm off. She can also breathe fire and regenerate. And eat shoplifters >.>

... and, looking back, I just realized you pretty much agreed with my original intentions >.< The 'divine retribution' phase was what I was talking about for Fa'lina et al >.O

So, yeah... we're talking either power (either a 'Cubi clan that's not that appreciative of her adoptive mother or a dragon or two for the same reason)... or some poor schmuck stupidly unaware of all her connections.

For the Power options... Pyroduck in the same room as her would... be even worse fuel to the fire. sad Thanks, Mab... but... you could have, you know... tried to warn? tongue Unless this is something that needs to happen. Even if I can't think why.

Urm... oops... just thought of somebody for left-field attacker status... Merlitz's mistaken old adventuring buddies. They know there's a 'Cubi there. They think it's Alexsi. They have no clue as to her connections. If so, they are sooooo toast. He'd also be in line, too.

Heh, the last 'Cubi that played Alexsi was her brother Dan. I believe it was Gen that later met Able and got drunk as a skunk.

Huuuuh. I get the feeling that to the contrary, we're about to find out exactly how competent Merlitz's former party is. (Though if Alexsi wakes up then that's game over.)

Note that they were able to kill one already. They might have a nasty surprise in reserve for Abel.

If Alexi does wake up, they're going to learn first hand how a Schnitzel feels during preparation, is all I'm saying. That heirloom of hers will definitely come out to play.

I dunno, Mousa... with the return of Merlitz' old group, the return of the 'SUCKER PUNCH'D' gag seemed pretty inevitable. Especially since Abel seems to keep doing that to Nytemyste(?)- that's the same guy that he punched while disguised as Merlitz.

As far as Abel goes... I'm honestly not expecting much from him. Abel not being much of a fighter has been pointed out repeatedly in-universe. He didn't take the combat courses (at least as of the end of Abel's Story), he's got that pesky hemophobia thing, and has (as far as I remember)generally avoided fights to the point that I'm not sure we've ever seen him in one before.

Of course, once Alexsi wakes up... I'm not sure the fight will even rate a panel. Just a quick cut of Merlitz' old comrades being launched en masse out of Lost Lake's door tongue

... and speaking of the adventuring group, I can't entirely fault them- from their dialogue, they did do the legwork beforehand, to the point that they knew about Jyrras' patches (and they had ample reason to suspect 'Lexsi), but yeah... at least their bruiser 'Peg' has some sense.

[up]Their previous kill is still stated to be a Van Helsing Hate Crime, though.

[up][up]Abel can definitely handle himself in combat, at least until someone gets cut...he took out Merlitz (though apparently he has elemental resistance, so that might be a little unfair) and has regularly brushed off Dan's attacks. (Though Pyroduck sitting on him was more than he could deal with.) After all, he's trained under Destania. But yeah, an adventuring party is probably too much for him.

And I just realized that it seems that amazon with the painted face has never said a word of english since her first appearance. Does she not speak the language? How do they even adventure together like that?

That kill was a Van Helsing Hate Crime, but are we certain the blunt object brigade is responsible?

I was... just wondering about that, actually. I don't recall anything that said that Merlitz' old crew was involved with that kill. Abel brushing off Dan's attacks was always a bit weird- Dan's got some serious Informed Ability going when it comes to fighting; the only time we actually see him do much on panel (that I can remember) was when he wound up almost interrupting Dark Pegasus' resurrection while chasing Regina.

... did Abel train under Destania? I thought he hated her and that the feeling was mutual.

Hmm. Thinking about it... for whatever it's worth, I've mentally filed Abel under the 'not fighter' category of the DMFA cast. If anyone cares, of the main cast, Dan, Wildy, Alexsi, and Pip are all filed under 'fighter' for me. That is, if there is a problem, they are trained, willing and able to apply violence to said problem until it is no longer a problem. Mab, Lorenda and Jyrras can all be incredibly dangerous under the right circumstances (bored, hungry, and in a giant mech, respectively), but it doesn't seem to be their first instinct- they're not fighters. Pyroduck is kind of a questionmark- I don't doubt that he's powerful, but how much he knows about actual fighting isn't clear.

Heh. Wonder if they'll ever have the core cast do an Adventuring run? Might be kind of funny, especially since all of a sudden Dan would be the most knowledgeable one tongue

Yeah, I'd agree that Dan has a serious lack of screentime showing any actual adventuring ability. Only his fight with Dark Pegasus (and making Regina wet her pants) was notable.

Abel seems to have hated Destania, but at the same time also learned something from her somehow. Especially given that Dan says he fights like his mom.
