The Time article isn't available in full on the internet if you were asking about it specifically.

Tzetze had a link to an older article on the other page.

Critical reaction to the book (Part 1 of a planned three-volume autobiography) so far has been mixed. Apparently Twain goes a little overboard with the Grumpy Old Man persona.

Well, it is pretty scathing, and I can definitely see how it would be offensive, but personally my beliefs make me biased in favor of it (so far, I'm not very far in).

Edit: Yeah, it's getting much more bitter.

Bonsai, right with you about wishing I could sit down and have a drink with old Sam.

Have you ever read Harry Turtledove's series where Twain is actually a character? It's the next best thing.

He writes classics that I hear about before reading. But the way the retellings etc. make it seem way too dated for me to bother. D:

Mark Twain was actually pretty ahead of his time, I think.

Anyway, I wonder if this autobio is or will be viewed as either his "real" self or just him deciding to vent. I bet he comes of as angrier than her really was in some topics.

Also, I really think he made a good call on when to have it released. 2010 is a good time for saying things that would be controversial and making sure all of it would be documented.
