Petilil Line

Morphs [Oak Catalog #]

  • Petilil [548] - Liliaceae vegeto
  • Lilligant [549] - Liliaceae odor
Petilil is a Grass-type sharing a resemblance to a tulip. It is among the smaller Pokemon, reaching about half a meter (1'8") and 6.6kg (14.6 lbs.) on average. It resembles a pale green bulb with leaves on it. Petilil has a white crescent face with small, brown eyes. The bulb is connected to lower body with stubby appendages serving as arms and legs, while neck is covered in leafy bib-like structure.

Once exposed to the radiation similar to the one given off by a Sun Stone, Petilil will evolve into a Lilligant. Unlike Petilil, Lilligant is much more humanoid in its shape. Its white body, measuring 1.1m (3'7") and 16.3kg (35.9 lbs.), has scarlet eyes and is 'dressed' in gown-like leaves, under which its sepal-like feet can be seen. Its head is covered in two short, loosely hanging leaves and one long that goes almost to feet, as if it was long hair. On top of this it has a scarlet flower with curved spotted petals and crown-like inflorescence. Besides the mentioned leaves of pale-green leaves, Lilligant also sports 6 darker green leaves - two on head, two on the back of the 'gown', and two in the middle of its body that serve as its hands. Its neck is also covered by a golden sepal.

Sometimes the specimens will experience a mutation, giving them a different coloration prized among collectors for rarity. Petilil will turn golden with pistachio green leaves and bluish eyes. Lilligant's leaves will turn lime green and arctic blue , while its flower and eyes will turn rose.

Notable biology

Petilil's leaves, while bitter in taste, are known to have invigorating effect. The leaves, if they fall naturally or are cut, will regrow after the time. As noted previously, the Petilil arms and legs are stuppy appendages, causing them to be sometimes clumsy and rather slow. Trained specimen is also able to release a scent from its leaves that proves to be soothing.

Lilligant's leaves seem to retain remedial qualities. Meanwhile, its flower produces a liquid whenever it is blooming. It is to be noted that Lilligant's flower is hard to take proper care of. If one does not have proper experience, a visit to an experienced gardener is a must - a flower that is not cared for will eventually wither, which will have an impact on Pokemon's health.

There are three known submorphs of this species that have shown abilities unique to that specific submorph. The first one modifies the cells responsive for absorbing sunlight by causing them to increase species' speed and agility when exposed to strong sunlight. However, this also increases the speed of their metabolism; prolonged use may result in exhaustion. The second one submorph seems to have some kind of internal compass that makes it immune to any kind of dizziness, including self-inflicted. This also seems to give them a better sense of balance and navigation. The third, most rare subtype, modifies the cells in a similar way to the first one, except sunlight instead stimulates the immune system to fight off any ailments such as poison.

Habitat

Petilil and Lilligant are most commonly found in grassy or woody areas, like forests, plains or meadows. However, some specimens are found living in wetland or mountainous areas. The species seem to thrive in places with long, cool springs. Their appearance in the area is usually a sign of rich, moist soil.

Diet

As many plant-like Grass-types, Petilil and Lilligant can use photosynthesis as an energy source. They have shown ability to root themselves into the soil, gathering any nutrients and water found underground. Lilligant also can use nectar from nearby flowers or fruits. Both species are capable of eating Berries with no ill effects.

Hazards

Petilil are fairly benign and friendly creatures that aren't too known for causing problems. Carrying a bag of medicine while around their territory is neverthless a good idea, as a scared specimen can easily release its pollen. Inhaling or touching may cause drowziness or numbness of one's body, but it has no toxic properties whatsoever. Interestingly enough, Trainers have taught it how to drain the dream energy of a sleeping Pokemon, an oddball in a moveset that otherwise is mostly what you'd expect from a Grass-type.

Lilligant's disposition is peaceful (Trainers noticed that some specimens show signs of refined behavior) and unless you delibirately anger it or try to fight it, it won't attack you. If it does, note that it is now capable of moves like Teeter Dance, a move that may be troublesome as it confuses every nearby Pokemon, or Quiver Dance, to enhance its combat capabilities. Carrying confusion-curing medicine or a Pokemon resistant to special-based moves like a Sylveon will help.

Mating and Childrearing

[to be done; this is a female-only species and these aren't too common. Some plants breed asexually, so that's one option.]

Social Structure

[also to be done]

In Human Society

The dark leaves, besides of their invigoration qualities used for herbal teas, can be also used turned into other kinds of medicine, such as one helping against fever. The leaves are sometimes turned into powder medicine that can be dissolved.

Lilligant's liquid can be turned into high-quality essential oil that is highly sought after in the aromatherapy. However, due to difficulty in making Lilligant's flower bloom, they're rare and expensive.

This is just a rough draft that's not finished, so I need some help on the last two sections.

The refined behavior thing becomes from the fact that they have those ball gown like leaves and the dancing moves, which sounds like aristocracy.note  The aromatherapy comes from... well... that dex says its flower has nice fragrance; plus it can learn the move itself.

I wrote the thing in neuter gender, even though the species's female-only. herp derp derp.

[up]There's nobody for Mankey on the list.

I was wondering if I could call dibs on the Capture Styler if it's open. EDIT: I've waited about a week so, I typed up the article.

Capture Styler

The Capture Styler is a device invented by Professor Hastings. It transfers the feelings of friendship to a pokémon through energy charged in loops around the target. The Styler also allows users to communicate with each other. It's the main tool of a Pokémon Ranger.

Operation

All stylers consist of two parts, the capture styler itself, which allows users to access the Browser, Glossary, and Current Mission Objectives as well as Voicemail to contact other users, and the Capture Disc, a small metallic top with a diameter of about 1.5 inches. The Capture Disc, when activated, will begin to release a trail of light, a Capture Line. If a loop is completed, the line will separate into small orbs, that instill feelings of friendship to any pokémon in the loop. However, both the Capture Disc and Capture Line are suspectable to pokémons' attacks and excessive damage can destroy the Capture Disc. Both Wrist-mounted and Hand-held stylers are controlled by detecting hand, arm and wrist movements and moving the Capture disc accordingly.

Controversy

????

Offical Stylers

  • Capture Styler — The original Styler, about 6 inches long. It could flip open to reveal a screen, many buttons and a slot for the Capture Disc. Unlike later Stylers, it can only befriend pokémon with a sustained Capture Line and is incapable of underwater captures (it can skim the Capture Disc across the surface of the water). The Capture Styler is hand-held.
  • Area Styler — The main styler of Area Rangers, about 5 inches long , it has all features enabled except power charge. The Capture Disc can be latched to a slot on the front. It is hand-held.
  • School Styler ― A modified Area Styler with most of its features disabled, such as Poké Assists and Voicemail, the School Styler was made for the Ranger School. Like the Area Styler, the School Styler is hand-held.
  • Fine Styler — A wrist-mounted styler about 4.5 inches long, with a touchscreen and a slot for the Capture Disc on the front. Issued to Top Rangers, it can utilize up to two levels of Power Charge, increasing the amount of friendship instilled in target pokémon.
  • Aerial Styler — A wrist-mounted styler slightly larger than the the capture Disc. Unlike the other stylers, it lacks a screen. It does have a Voice Nav. System, which can notify Aerial Rangers so they can continue flying. Like the Fine styler, the Aerial Styler also has a Power Charge function, however it needs to be activated first. In addition, the Capture Disc has the ability to levitate, essential for the range Aerial Rangers patrol.

Other Stylers

  • Power Styler — An improved version of the prototype Super Styler, which was stolen from Professor Hastings while he was in the Fiore Region. There are five known Power Stylers in existance, all created by the Go-Rock Squad and modeled after musical instruments: an organ, a violin, a drum, a bass guitar, and an electric guitar. The Power Styler could force pokémon to act against their will, even befriended pokémon.
  • Vatonage Styler — A one-of-a-kind Styler based off the Fine Styler. It utilizes shards of the three Tears of Princes to befriend pokémon who have closed themselves to others or are under the control of Gigaremo or Miniremo units. The Vatonage Styler was critical in Operation Brighton.

Not part of this project, but if I had to guess I'd say say... sort of. It's similar to Mega Evolution but it has a different trigger (the Orbs, which don't require humans to activate), different restrictions (basically none, both Primals can be active at once as opposed to Mega Evolution's "once per battle"), and the stated effect is different (it unlocks a lost power instead of granting a new one).

Diancie

Morphs [Oak Catalog #]

  • Diancie [719]
    • Mega Diancie [719-M]

Physical Descriptions

This elusive pokemon is comprised almost entirely of mineral matter, giving its skin a grayish tint. The lower portion of the body is a rough, oblongoid rock with a single pinkish gem embedded in it. Above that is the Diancie's core body; a torso and two thin arms ending in mitten-like hands, all covered with a dress-like formation of soft white-spun crystal silk. There is another pink gem resting on Diancie's chest, and a gold formation not unlike a small collar wraps around the shoulders. The head is spherical, with a face consisting of a small smiling mouth, ovaloid ears, and a pair of large innocent red eyes. Of particular fame is Diancie's headdress, comprised almost entirely of pink gems: a round one dominates her forehead with a single gold nugget at its base, while from a simple rhomboid on her back sprouts four diamond-like protrusions in a crown formation and a pair of longer, danglier gems that rest on Diancie's back. There are occasional legends of a Diancie with a pink dress and much darker skin; this is presumed to be the result of the same mutation that causes related Pokemon Carbink to occasionally manifest blue fluff, but no specimens of the uniquely colored Diancie have been observed in modern times.

It is known that certain megastones will power up Diancie, radically altering its appearance and physiology. The lower body morphs from a rough rock into a wider solid pink gem. The white gown becomes sleeveless and widens, a secondary semi-translucent drape forming underneath and around the new base. Between the gown and the drape is a skirt formed of eleven longer pink crystals; the five in the rear are especially long, and each has a pair of tiny gems dripping from its points. Diancie's golden collar gains a pair of right-angled points, making it somewhat resemble an omega sign; two more unmodified collars are around the waist, one above the gown and one below the drape. And of course, the famous headdress itself has grown only more impressive; the forehead gem grows larger and takes a diamond cut, pushing back on the upper four gems so that they separate into pairs, while the rear gems each gain a dangling diamond similar to those on the skirt. An entirely new development is the two translucent ribbons that weave out from the now round gem on the back of the Diance's head, with dangling diamonds at each corner.

Lore and History

Diancie is known to be the princess of the Carbinks, who are only found in Kalos' Reflection Cave, and is presumed to be unfailingly polite. Ancient stories tell of Carbinks undegoing a sudden mutation to become a Diancie; what this means is not entirely understood, but from careful analysis of the surrounding legends it is assumed that the Carbink somehow select one of their own to become the new Diancie when the old one passes away. The Diancie is also responsible for maintaining a legendary artifact known as the Heart Diamond, without which the Carbink are unable to survive. Many sources speculate that Diancie is responsible for the mirror-gems of Reflection cave, even concluding that the pokemon may be from another dimension, but there is no solid evidence for this myth.

Known Sightings

Most sightings of Diancie are of the Pokemon being in the center of some sort of procession through Reflection Cave, with many tales having her talk with those who come in contact and leaving them in high spirits. Some stories state that she sometimes showers visitors with diamonds, but whether or not these diamonds last forever varies from tale to tale. The most recent sighting of Diancie was during the Yveltal incident, where a young Diancie went in search of Xerneas to learn how to maintain the Heart Diamond; unfortunately, this attracted the attention of unscrupulous trainers who attempted to capture it and caused the Yveltal incident in the first place.

Abilities

Diancie retains the resiliency of the Carbink, able to take blows that would wind other pokemon due to the thickness of its rocky skin. Mega Diancie improves on this basic ability with a constant low-power shield that reflects such attacks; a pokemon trying to slow the mega form will themselves be slowed, and so on. Of course, what Diancie is most known for is its ability to compress carbon out of air itself, seemingly producing diamonds from nothingness; this compression is initially temporary, and part of a Diancie's maturation is learning how to create permanent jewels for reasons as of yet unknown.

Hazards

Attempts to capture Diancie are almost guaranteed to fail, for a number of reasons. Most sightings of the Princess of Jewels have her surrounded by an entourage of Carbink, and there are stories of the rock-like pokemon all throwing themselves at high velocity at people who attempted to take their princess. Diancie is also well respected within the Kalos region, to the point where most people living there take slights against Diancie as insults to their homeland; a theoretical capturer would be hard pressed to find friends and might very well be mobbed. And this is all before the potential dangers of the Diancie itself come into play!

Despite their small size, Diancie are rock pokemon and have the associated high defense, only augmented by their resistance to satus-changing moves. While their rock attacks might be basic, they're often supplemented with psychic abilities and the sheer power a Diancie can unleash is incredible. This is even before they enter their Mega morph, which increases their destructive capacity and allows them to reflect status attacks back on their attackers. And, uniquely amongst all pokemon, Diancie can use their ability to generate gemstones in order to shower their opponents with a near literal rainstorm of dangerous diamond shards.

That being said, Diancie are fairly polite and levelheaded. One moved to assist trainers caught up in the Yveltal incident, and was even seen in a shopping mall with some friends. Diancie can be quite kind, caring, and level-headed allies to those who show them respect. It's just that it isn't wise to trifle with that sort of power.
