Probably not all that isolated, really. People IRL take in wild animals frequently enough. (There was that guy in the anime with the Farfetc'd who did something like that, right?)

Is there anyone doing:

• Pokemon Centers
• Poke Marts
• The Storage System

If not, I'll take on them.

I seem to recall there being an argument way back about if the technology used by the storage system was related to the technology used in pokeballs that was never resolved, so you might want to avoid that one.

I think the other two are fair game.

In our articles, we do often make mention of wild groups of starters, so we can just count that as Gameplay and Story Segregation.

I know I haven't delivered yet, and I am late on 4th Gen as well, but unless anyone has done so I call dibs on the Minccino line. And if anyone has called on them and needs help, let me know.

Speaking on starters, are we refitting the articles of the other starters sometime?

The way I see it, Starters are like some half-domesticated animal like snakes or something. You can own one as a pet, and you can find them in the wild doing their own thing. Since the only Starter Article I've read was the Piplup one, and it talked more about the line in the wild instead of in captivity, I'd say that they're both born and bred in captive areas like cows and horses, and born and bred in the wild like cheetahs and meerkats.

We should refit the starters sometime, yeah. (Also, I'm finally in the middle of another indexing pass. Been way too long...)

Could you read and give opinions on the Kanto starters?

Oddish acctucally has a scientific name given in the Fire Red dex entry (Oddium Wanderus). Oddish uses a separate one.

Probably not, at least not unless someone actually plans to write a full-blown article for it. Methinks it's one of those pokemon that hardly anyone would want to fund research for, so maybe it should stay a quick-write.

I dunno. I do like my explanation for Heart Scales, though.

So, what are the adjective forms of the regions? Kantonese, Johtonese, Hoennese, Sinnish, Unovan, Seviic, Fioric, Almiac, Oblivian, and Orrean?

Holy crap, I just remembered I was the one who was supposed to write up the Luvdisc article! ... Yeah I don't have it. It got devoured by a virus a long time ago, and I forgot to write up another article.

I'm partial to Sinnoan and Johtoese myself. Also, Kantonese sounds exactly like Cantonese. Though that may have been the point.

This is what I was thinking about the starters: maybe, in order to obtain an 'official' starter Pokèmon and graduate to challenging the league, people need to pay a certain amount of money to the League to pay for membership, costs of obtaining a starter, etc. Of course, not everyone's going to want to do that (and most people don't want to challenge the Elite 4 anyways) and, owing to the scarcity of wild starters, will just catch a Com Mon or two and call it a day.

That makes a lot of sense, actually. The money for that could go to funding the Pokemon Centers, since trainers who are trying for the Leagues would be battling a lot more than more casual trainers and thus would need their services more often.

Of course, the PCs didn't have to pay membership because they all got their starters under unique circumstances.

Re: Adjectives: I'm partial to 'Sinn' and 'Kantoese', but otherwise I'm cool with whatever you guys make up.

Since I liked the surname the guy who wrote the Team Rocket article went with for Giovanni, I stuck with that in the Viridian article.

Are we gonna come with surnames (or first names for trainers like Surge) for other major characters from whole cloth? I wanted to write an article for Pewter City and it would be a little awkward to refer to Brock only by his given name.

We usually "censor" the ungiven names with *****'s.

Yeah, it fits best with higher-ups like Cynthia and Brendan, who probably have a bit more secrecy going for them than the Gym Leaders.

Blargh. I am motivated to work on some entries again, but I won't have time until the weekend... If anyone wants to pester me then, feel free.

I hope to come up with some good Tropius biology, and probably generalize some of the stuff in the Bulbasaur entry to all grass types.

Also, maybe I can get more specific on the Pokéball stuff. Any objections to Pokéballs and teleporters operating on spacial-warping principles? The Apricorn would provide the appropriate Phlebotinum, with the techniques for using it "allegedly" passed down by Palkia.
