Or he could have simply filled the Board of Governors with Yes Men.

According to the wiki, the Board of Governors is mentioned in the third and sixth books, but yeah, it does seem odd how little effect they have on anything after the second book, even when Fudge and Umbridge are radically meddling with the headmaster position.

[up] I'm guessing Fudge has the power to overrule the Board of Governors if need be?

Of course, that's blatantly unfair, but considering all the crap the Ministry pulled in Book 5...

Not sure it's all that specific to Harry, given that I've read that novel-reading in general is positively correlated with empathy.

Depends on the novels - I don't suppose reading Game of Thrones books would increase anyone's sense of empathy.

depends on the attitude you go into it with. A Song Of Ice And Fire differs from the TV show in that its format gives you a limited focus on all sorts of people in very different situations (unless they're peasants). it's not quite as boobs-and-gore as the tv show is, more...the ugliness of life.

on that note anyone else ever read livesandliesofwizards?

Hagrid is working on an erotic fiction novel entitled β€˜50 Shades of Me Penis.’
An erotic fiction novel by Hagrid is gonna be more like those dinosaur-fucking ebooks that reportedly exist. Because what's the point without monsters?

[up][up][up]I started following it about when it stopped updating.

"But seven chapters deep with a 7,600 word count, that’s quite the dedicated parody."

That's, like, two hours. Maybe three.

Especially when one is working with a pre-existing framework.

And I'm taking into account both writers' (Writer's? I'm not sure what the possessive refers to, the writing community or an individual writer) block and procrastination.

So, something just occurred to me. Where exactly is the Wizarding world when it comes to documenting mental health and the like? Especially regarding children?

I mean, there's tons of neglect by our standards—Neville's nuncle testing him for magic the Jackson way, Harry's everything—but we're, you know. Modern. And magic-users (Sorcerers? Warlocks? Magic-users? Thaumaturgically-gifted individuals? Bah!) most certainly aren't.note

This is a bad sign, is what I'm getting at.
