Kingdom Hearts

Out of all the Disney worlds in Co M, Olympus Colosseum was my favorite due to the bosses and the story actually interesting me and not being a retread of KH 1.

I think we could probably do Alice in Wonderland again since we now have the tech and budget to avoid the issues it had the first time around.

The reason Agrabah in Chain of Memories sucks is because it's just as if the writer of the game didn't even bother to watch Aladdin.

I mean, the plot of it is:

~* Jafar goes up to Aladdin without any disguise and tells him to go to the Cave of Wonders to get the lamp. Aladdin does.

~* Aladdin runs into the Heartless. As opposed to having Sora fight them, he uses his first wish to wish them, like, ten feet away.

~* Aladdin runs into the Heartless again. His second wish is the same as the first.

~* Aladdin runs into the Heartless AGAIN. This time, Sora pretty much calls him out on his stupid wishes and kills the Heartless so that he can save his last wish for freeing Genie.

~* Jafar steals the lamp and wishes for Genie to pick up Jasmine and bring her to him.

Now, those wishes are stupid on their own, but then we get to the crown jewel.

~* Jafar's evil plan is to have Genie kill Aladdin and Co. and then wish for Jasmine to fall in love with him. This is treated completely seriously by the heroes, and they even come up with a plan to foil this despite the fact that Genie outright says in the film that both of those wishes are beyond his abilities.

Based on what he says about the other thing he "can't" do (bring people back from the dead), specifically "It's not a pretty picture. I don't like doing it" I always assumed that he can if forced to, but has wiggle room on how binding it is as a wish, if that makes any sense.

For example, when Jafar has Aladdin sent to the ends of the earth, Genie's response is to pick up the palace's tower and chuck it really hard. I doubt it was impossible for that to kill Aladdin (even though it didn't).

Wasn't that Jafar sending him to the ends of the earth (yipee!) with his mad sorcerer powers?

I'm pretty sure genie's the one who at least pulled off the tower.

Nope, that was all Jafar. Genie relocated the palace to the top of the mountain (which is itself something of a plot hole, since Jafar is never seen wishing for that to happen), but Jafar's the one who launches the tower away.

If Genie can kill people, though, that makes the Return of Jafar really weird. Jafar spent the entirety of that film trying to kill Aladdin indirectly due to the genie restrictions.

Genie even says that since Jafar is a genie, he can't kill anyone.

...But you'd be surprised at what you can live though.

Anyway, I actually didn't mind that most of the worlds in COM were lacking. After all, they're based on Sora's memories, which as Repliku helpfully points out, "[are] a train wreck."

Continued 1.5 Final Mix Proud Mode again, took on Dragon Maleficent AND Final Rikunort without losing to either of them even once.

Although I had quite a few close calls with DM (THANK YOU LEAF BRACER), and learned Counterattack literally just in time to make use of it against Final Rikunort.

Counterattack is a godsend against Rikansem.

If any old-school technique of Sora's needs to return one day...

Well, they do have the unique counterattack abilities in BBS and 3D...

I wish Riku's Counter Aura was more like his Kingdom Hearts II version where he shoots the fireballs rather then the more Aqua magic burst. I also really wished he would have shot Dark Firaga out of his palm like in Dream Drop Distance. I like the little things like that.

Yeah, I screwed myself out of Counterattack by choosing Staff and it made that fight a hell.

Heading back home from public wi-fi here in a few, going to see about sealing that pesky Final Keyhole and beating up Behemoth.

I haven't played KHI in forever. I know Riku counters magic attacks with Dark Firaga, but does he deal more damage if you have Aero up or is that just the Ice Titan?

Just the Ice Titan. Keep Aero up as often as you can.

Don't use Aero against Ice Titan, it makes the fight much harder.

Cleared Hollow Bastion, got up to Hades in the Hades cup.

Is that the one that has Donald's best moment after you win?

What, does he say anything other than "FOR DAISY!!!" or something? (Never beat/don't remember beating Hades Cup)

He uses Blizzard to put out Hades' hair.
